Fellow Steemians, tonight I wanted to share a classic Flying Scotsman (steam engine) Train design in progress. The geometry is being modeled in 3D using the software “Rhinoceros.” Screen-shots below show progress modeling from different angles and phases of rendering.
The concept and specific geometry for the train was submitted by @fairytalelife, who requested that STEEMTOWN include a classic train. Of course... it would have to be steam (steem!) powered. During the modeling process I studied the geometry of the original Flying Scotsman train that transported passengers between Scotland and England beginning in 1862. Here is @fairytalelife’s request below…
Here are a few snapshots of the modeling in progress, shown in plan view, perspective and elevation...
Below, here is the near-final rendering that will be included in the Town project...
What’s STEEMTOWN?
STEEMTOWN is an ongoing community art project powered through your comments and ideas. It’s an experimental game of city-making, a digital Madurodam, where my role is the builder and yours is the planner and curator. Each week, a new layer of buildings will be added to the Town. Your photographs, quotes, stories and feedback are the raw materials that drive construction for each new layer. For more, here is a link to the introductory post of STEEMTOWN and the project mission.
An Exercise in Building Community
Through this project - I hope to engage in a broader dialogue with fellow Steemians about their own sense of place and placemaking. These types of game-structured conversations are a fascinating way of learning more about what a person defines as his or her “community.” It’s a way of us connecting to one another through the geographies we are deeply tied to and knowledgeable of. In a world of links, likes, upvotes and IP addresses, it’s exciting to find ways of bridging the digital divide and connecting with those on the other side of the screen.
Stay tuned for Phase 3 of STEEMTOWN next week…
It might also be nice to have some Wind turbines for the hills, If you like I am happy to contribute my steemit wind turbine as well .

You're a pro with blender, very nicely modeled and rendered! Would you be able to export as an OBJ file? (The Town is all in Rhino)
