Visit to the Arts of Life + Circle Contemporary in Chicago

I stopped by a new art gallery on my bike ride home from work tonight. 

The opening was a good turnout there were a lot of people there. I was gazing around in the back where the Arts of Life Studio was:

And then a man came up to me and started talking to me. His name was Kris Schenkel. He is an artist at the studio who was featured as the Artist of the month in the first room that you walk in when you enter the building. He told me a little bit about the organization.

The new gallery in the building, before you walk into the studio spaces, Circle Contemporary is going to show work from people Other artists And ArtsofLife Artists. The arts of life organization is for people with mental disabilities. They make ART BRUT. or OUTSIDER art  . ITS really cool 

Outsider art is AWESOME cuz its raw and funky

its true art. 

I was flipping through the paintings and drawings that were for sale at the front. there were some really cool ones that i probablay would have bought if i didnt go out to eat last night and spend $70 on a steak dinner lol

i thought this ^ on e was reallyt cool. look . interesting. someone who wasnt mentally ill coudlnt make this. only a childlike innocence or super good outsider artist could let themselves work this way.

They had a tabel of stuff for sale . i bought a pin for a buck :)

The name of Circle Contemporary's first show tonight was called SOMETHING ELSE.

i didnt catch the name of the artists in the show but it was a group show. here are the pictures from it.
