I just bought this 2nd hand painting from a local art gallery. It's an oil on canvas one.
What I like about this the most is way the artist has focused the abandoned fort. I love how astutely different intensity shades were used to project the 3d look of the fort.
Second thing, that got my attention is the magnificently created reflection in the lake. The reflection of all the greenery and the fort itself gives the painting a real like look. The fine brush work used is creating the reflection is remarkable.
Also, the selection of vantage point is exemplary. When creating this piece the artist must have had the furtiveness in mind. Selected vantage point is naturally camouflaged by the trees and shrubs, perfect for a spy or frontline observer to have a clear view of the fort without being noticed.
But all of these are just manifestation of my imagination. I cannot be 100% sure about the artist's intents.
