Ren Jianguo made academic achievements in the art world when he was young. In 1985, his early Chinese painting "The Hotel We Opened" participated in the landmark "Advance Chinese Youth" National Art Exhibition and was collected by the National Art Museum of China. As early as 1982, another group of Chinese paintings by Ren Jianguo, "The Old Man Who Planted the Buds," was exhibited in the Beijing Gongbi Heavy Color Painting Exhibition and was also collected by the National Art Museum of China. In the series "Four Views of Yanjing" in 1981, he experimented and explored the painting language of "modern composition" earlier in the field of fine brushwork and heavy color painting. Lu Chen and Zhou Sicong have high evaluations and expectations for him. Other important exhibitions that Ren Jianguo participated in in the 1980s included the "Sixth National Art Exhibition" and "The Second National Youth Art Works Exhibition", which were the key exhibitions to study the art history of that era. In his early twenties, Ren Jianguo attracted the attention of the art world. At that time, the most authoritative "Art" magazine set up a column in the fifth issue of 1985 to introduce Ren Jianguo's artistic creation. In the same year, Ren Jianguo was honored by Beijing Literature and Art Workers.
