AD&D evolved from Dungeons and Dragons and picked up a few oddities alongthe way. One that felt a bit out of place in the more faux medieval European setting was the monk. I did have a monk character that I played. I tended to like the ones that were a bit oddball back in the day like the monk and druid. However, if you think about medieval Europe and the silk road, having a monk character might not be as odd as it would seem. At any rate, AD&D has always been about the fantastical and there is a lot of room in there to accomodate varying tastes and play styles. It sure is a lot of fun to now be sharing this game with my kids and their friends. They come up with some pretty wacky and wonderful ideas. I wouldn't want it any other way. Enjoy and happy gaming!
