But what really is a dream catcher?
Well my basic knowledge about it is that dream catchers are made to cast away the bad dreams so the owner will only have good dreams while sleeping though according to source, legomenon.com
Dream catchers are often believed to have originated from the Ojibwa Chippewa tribe, the Ojibwe people found them to be a symbol of protection and comfort...
Preparing the Materials
Here are the materials I bought and hope to give you an idea just in case you want to make one for yourself too!
Hoop - This will serve as the base for your dream catcher, in my case I opt for wooden hoop those that is used for embroidery but if you can't find one then thick metal wires will do.
Nylon & Beads - this will be the material for middle weave pattern. For some they are using suede strings, the choice is yours just make sure its strong and flexible. Beads - to add sparkles (optional)
Lace and Ribbon - will use as string to hold the feathers at the bottom of dream catcher or you may either use some fabrics which you'll see below the actual finish product. The creative the better!
Feathers - to add embelishments
Apparently I wasn't able to capture the steps as I was so focused while making it =) But you can always check on various web for tutorials like journeyjunkie.com
The finish product!
Here's another piece I made just last night using pieces of cloth as embelishments at the bottom 🙂
