Thinking about illustrating CRAN EOLA AND HIS FRIENDS IN "TO BE CONTINUED". A post-apocalyptic science fiction tragicomedy that I wrote.

Hello, my steemit friends lovers of Art:

In November 2016, a play I wrote, called Cran Eola and his friends in "To be continued" was the winner of the "Gilberto Pinto" National Dramaturgy Contest , one of the most important contests that are held in Venezuela and which is organized by the "Andrés Bello" National House of Letters Foundation. I have to say that the joy of the news would soon turn into frustration because, as happens many times in a country that has been driven by the self-proclaimed Bolivarian Revolution, I was the victim of a deceptive offer: despite what the rules of the contest establish, my work has not been published not even on the Internet, considering that it is very difficult to get paper to print books in this poor and, at the same time, very rich Venezuelan nation.

But under such circumstances I have thought that I can edit it myself and publish it on the net, since there are many pages that allow it. Of course, as I always have to complicate everything, I thought that I could accompany the text with some illustrations made by me.

Well, as the work has a very punk aesthetic, then the drawings cannot be left behind. So, for example, there goes this drawing that corresponds to the first scene. As it is a world in ruins, I took a photo I found in a magazine and drew with gouache directly on it.

This is a black-and-white version and a little edited so that it looks more formal. The drawing shows Cran Eola, one of the characters, who is a mixture between a destroyed park guard and a phalangist, who in a desperate and vain attempt wanders under a reddish and hyper-contaminated sky trying to get something to eat in the garbage.

Here I include part of the first scene. Of course, it was wrote in Spanish:

"Cran Eola moves cautiously under a reddish and turbulent sky. His steps tangled between the debris and the mud of an infernal landscape. In one hand he grasps a wooden board with an iron nail at the tip. In the other, a kind of detector that leads to the corpses scattered on the ground. In front of a body, immobile like so many others, the detector emits an insistent signal. Cran Eola studies the body in spite of his certainty that it is one more corpse, he kicks it repeatedly to convince himself that there will be no reaction. The detector insists, so Cran says to it: Fool! He's dead! I know he's dead! However, the detector perseveres in its advertisement. Cran Eola hits it frantically: You miserable piece of shit! I'm going to teach you not to fail! Cran Eola jumps over the detector until it stops ringing, while grumbling: Nobody deceives me! I was told you would last five hundred years and you would last five hundred years!"
