Beliau adalah seorang tokoh pendiri Gerakan Aceh Merdeka, sebuah gerakan yang berusaha memperjuangkan kemerdekaan Aceh dari Indonesia,keturunan ketiga Teungku Chik Muhammad Saman di Tiro, pahlawan nasional Indonesia yang memimpin perang melawan Belanda pada tahun 1890an.
He is a founding member of the Free Aceh Movement, a movement that seeks to fight for Aceh's independence from Indonesia, the third descendant of Teungku Chik Muhammad Saman di Tiro, Indonesia's national hero who led the war against the Dutch in the 1890s.
