Hello Steemians! I would like to share my attempt of drawing Chris Hemsworth, better known as Thor of the Marvel movie as a request from @jasoncaspe. I am still practicing with my drawings and would like to show you my progress as I venture through my journey in this community.
So this would be my first post of the sketches I like to share and I will start off with showing you my finished product.
These are just the two pencils and eraser that I used throughout this portrait. One mechanical pencil and an ordinary 2B pencil is all it takes (HEHEH)
I searched Chris Hemsworth's portrait and I found this! I thought that a black and white image would be an easy reference for beginners like me especially I do not specialize on colored drawings or paintings.
Step 1. I started off with a rough sketch of the outline of his face and a little detail of his features using the ordinary 2B pencil as it is good for a light start.
Step 2. In this stage, I already used mechanical pencil to start blackening some parts that are supposed to be darker than the others. I do not have enough drawing materials so I guess this would be a proof that a drawing is manageable even though you do not own much of those (HEHEHE)
Step 3. I continued darkening the remaining parts and made smart guesses on the areas to be shadowed to not make it look flat. Honestly I had a hard time on highlighting his face for this is the first time I actually drew a portrait of a man. I am usually acquainted to a woman's highlight but this one is different. I'd like to push on through this challenge though :)
Step 4. As you can see nothing much is changed compared to previous step, just his shirt and darker on areas that I thought would add a little depth.
On a closer look...
Step 5. Lastly, I added detail on his beard, moustache, and eyelashes.
I am already content with this one (haha!) so to professional artists reading this, it would be an honor to be receiving comments of suggestions on how to make my way of drawing better. I would love to hear from all of you!
That would be it, steemians! Hope you like it!
