“Good morning Dr. Bravishiv. How did you sleep last night?”

Hiru opened his eyes slowly and was greeted by the sight of what looked to be a young beautiful woman. She had long red hair and eyes that were almost pure grey with small flecks of gold in them. Hiru smiled to himself. The flecks in the eyes was his idea. He said that it made her more life like. The only thing he was unable to fix was the color of her skin. She still had a pale white look to her as if she were made of plastic.

“I slept well computer. Please relay to me today’s events,” Hiru said through a large yawn.

“Well Doctor, today your morning has been cleared to meet with the professional trainer regarding your present health. Later today, you have a meeting with the board of directors regarding the Adam and Eve Project. Later tonight you have a dinner planned with you, yourself, and me of course.”

“Thanks computer,” Hiru replied with sarcasm.

The robotic computer responded, “Doctor, Don’t you think it is time you start dating again? I mean, it has been over a year since the incident…”

“That’ll be enough computer, power down.”

The beautiful red headed robot left the room and returned to the plug-in station and suddenly became still.

Hiru made his way to the window and pulled back the curtain. The sun was barely coming up over the many buildings in the sky. He could see the cars floating around already zipping to and from their destinations for the morning. Hiru often spent his time pondering mankind’s plot in life and how far it has come here in this very spot. He wondered how his ancestors ever survived without the technology of today. He would remember the many stories his grandmother would tell him about life that existed centuries ago before he was even born. He remembered the story about how mankind almost went extinct until the Adam and Eve Project was born. The first time he heard that story, he swore he would become just like the scientists and doctors who saved mankind. He wanted to be a hero like the many men that came before him.

Hiru sighed to himself as he turned away from the window and made his way to the bathroom.

“Some hero, Hiru,” he said to himself.

Hiru turned on the water in his shower and entered reluctantly. Ever since global warming became an issue, heated water was no longer an option. The human race was condemned to take cold showers the rest of their life.

“I guess some things haven’t improved in the future,” Hiru said bitterly.

He scrubbed himself with his pumice stone, remembering to remove all the dead cells for optimal cleanliness.

After his shower, Hiru dressed himself in the traditional garb of pure white linen and made his way down to the kitchen and ordered breakfast from the electronic menu, cardboard eggs and lukewarm coffee.
