I was reading article today about robotic sex machines and find it a little absurd and worrying at the same time. Apparently they are being developed for people who are sexually dysfunctional.Whatever that means and I don't want to know either. There is talk that your doctor could prescribe one of these to help improve your needs.
These robots will be programmed and mustn't be confused with the life like dolls that are available today. They will be available within the next decade and with technology booming these days especially with artificial intelligence god knows what is going to be unleashed.
I find the whole thing a bit strange and sick and wonder how many dysfunctional people we have out there requiring this sort of thing. I think if any guy gets a semi looking at a robot then they should be taken around the building and shot and I am being serious.This type of robot wont be cheap so obviously it is a big problem and there must be a market for this type of thing. I just don't see how a robot can replace another real person.
This is worrying though as the youngsters of today have forgotten about communication as in talking to someone across the table. Everything they do seems phone related and the art of conversation is disappearing. We just have to go to the local restaurant and watch what others are doing and a majority are looking at their phones texting or doing something else.
If civilization is not careful relationships will be replaced by a robot of your choice who is low maintenance and tells you how good you are. I find this quite comical and maybe I will get to see how this plays out in my lifetime. The world is one messed up place and robots can't fix everything even though it looks like they are trying to.

It's definitely a little weird. However now I am picturing sexuality police cupping everyone's crotch (can't just assume who can and cannot get a semi these days), then deciding if it's semi enough to be a semi and what exactly caused the semi.

It raises a lot of complex questions and it can lead to distributing acts.
I know when judges were asked about granting various animals human rights, they always said no. Robots will be in the same position until theybcan pass the Turing Test and no ome knows the difference.
That being said I think we should allow this but just warn them they are going on a list to be monitored and must contact professionals for help if they feel like committing an actual crime.

The most worrying part is in theory you can do 'anything' to a robot as they don't provide feedback - so any fantasy that you can't do unpunished IRL you can do to a doll or robot... But then... the real think will always be the ultimate dream come true - and maybe these robots only cheers some people on to go after that 'real thing' - which isn't something we'd want.
But then again, they can also be used therapeutically - what if a person that would otherwise molest a person now feels 'just enough' sexually satisfied so they don't molest anymore?
There's two sides to this one and I don't know which one is more true.
