AI and ethics

Generative Artificial Intelligence is 2023's hot topic started with so much hype for chatGPT. But you can hear from everywhere that AI also has some ethical issues that we need to think about carefully. Ethics in AI means that we make sure that our AI projects respect human dignity and do not harm anyone.

Below are some points worth thinking about..

  1. AI should be used to improve human abilities, not to replace them. It has to respect human values, rights, and diversity when we make and use AI.

  2. How AI products are made and used have to be transparent. The model should try to avoid or fix any bias or discrimination that may come from data or algorithms. Bias seems to be getting much focuses recently.

  3. AI should protect personal data and respect data ownership when it collects, uses, and shares data. AI sometimes scrap the information which is not public and we can see some examples from the recent news.

  4. AI should have ways to be checked, reviewed, and corrected any negative effects or harms caused by AI. Personally I think this may also be able to be done by another AI in future.. AI reviewing and correcting AI..

  5. AI products, just like any other IT solutions, have to be trustworthy, strong, and safe from attacks or mistakes.

AI will definitely be helpful for our future but there always exist other side of new technology. We should be cautious, I mean many cautiously optimistic? :)
