Observation Drawing

L'Amphion

Job description

Today I present to you this work of my authorship. It is a drawing of observation made outside the classroom. This is one of my many observation drawings that I have been able to make throughout my career as an Architecture student. Precisely the name of the portfolio of this work was Black and White. The main idea was to highlight the dark highlights and shadows with the scale of gray.

I had to work with the sculpture "L'Amphion" by the French sculptor Henry Laurens.

Below I present the step by step, to perform this work:

  • Step N ° 1: I observed the sculpture for 30 minutes from different angles.

  • Step N ° 2: I determined the angle of observation to make the first sketches.

  • Step N ° 3: Take a photograph and subdivide it into three quadrants of equal three thirds.

  • Step N ° 4: I selected the range of pencils to draw shadows and contours.

  • Step N ° 5: In a blog sheet for drawing, we begin to make the first contour lines very subtly.

  • Step N ° 6: After establishing the geometry of the figure at 1:50 scale we proceeded to establish the shadows of the sculpture.

  • Step N ° 7: Finally, we perform shadows of depth and present our drawing to the teacher.

  • Note: We were not allowed to take photographs of the drawing process.
  • In the following link you will find a publication where I talk about this work.

Hi my friend thank for comentary!

You're welcome

In the Observation Drawing, as its name indicates, the most important is the process of capturing, through the meticulous study of the details contemplated in an image, the different patterns that we want to represent in each of our sketches. In this sense, your drawing proposes shadows that you define as artist; however, those shadows reflect your creative process and give shape to a drawing of extraordinary similarity to the original sculptural image.

Congratulations @manuelramos ... very good your drawing!
