If you want to be an artist, don't work for other people.

Let's see what does it mean to work for other people? It means to allow yourself to get involved with some other person's perspective. It means to try to deliver on someone else's vision, on someone else's dream. Imagine working for Jeff Bezos, basically every more you make, every line of code should make Jeff more money. Sometimes it can be interesting to work with others but not for others because you see, there's a different dynamic of sharing perspectives and co-evolving involved in collaboration. In a collaboration you are not being turned into an instrument, you are not being objectified. What does it mean to be objectified? It means to be seen as a designer, as an art director as a developer etc. and not as a human being. I am not like that. I cannot be. I simply cannot be that and it's my problem. Unfortunately so many people are in this situation where they simply fuck up their entire lives trying to be something they're not and never get to discover who they are. The devil has in his living room a library of books never written by this people. Art never exposed, films never made. Do you breath and feel and dream about art every single day? Are you eager to create, to become to be your own individual self to discover what you are basically? Do you madly want that? if yes, than don't ever work for others no matter how much they pay you.
