Design with steps: My T-shirt design for our team "KRAKIMES".

Hello Steemians!!!

The Association of Working Scholars in University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue will be having our annual Sports Fest this summer. The opening ceremony will be on April 21, 2018. This event is only exclusive to workings here in the university. So, every offices including laboratory in the university is grouped into 4 teams. The WOLVICES, STAGMINS, LABRATS and our team, the KRAKIMES. As a participation for this event and also a contribution of our team, I volunteered to make a T-shirt design.

My T-shirt design for our team "KRAKIMES"

I came up with this T-shirt design by what characteristics of KRAKEN have and those anchor and a propeller was suggested by my team mate. I made it simple that can be pleasing with eyes of the viewer and that could be highlighted the black shirt. So, how it was possible? It just came up in my mind that it will be the design for the kraken, anchor and propeller. By the way, Why is it KRAKIMES? Because they crack other teams?! NO. hahaha. KRAKIMES is the combination word of a "kraken" and a "maritime". That is why KRAKIMES. Now lets go back to the design. I had a difficulty in choosing the right color for the Kraken, the anchor and the propeller. I asked suggestions from my teammates. I also made some of my suggestions to choose. That was yesterday that we finally chose the best color suggestion that will be meaningful to us.

Red for kraken:

• The kraken symbolizes our team. Red means to us that we are eager to win in every sport and full determination for the sake of our team.

Gold for the anchor and the propeller:

• Gold means to us a champion. This team is full of athletic working scholars and I will hope that we will be the over-all champion for this annual event.

Now lets go to my process on how I did this possible.

I had only few knowledge in making designs and to use the mobile and pc applications. I just tried it because my excitement when it comes in art. Since I am fond of watching tutorials on how to use those applications and based on my understanding on how to use those tools. Not kind of a pro yet.

So, here's my process:

I used my finger tip with this art.

1.) I went to Sketchbook app and did some sketches. I used symmetry tool.

2.) I created a new layer for my outline. My previous layer was in a 50 percent opacity serve as a guide.

3.) I hid my layered sketch then I overlapped my outline with my desired colors for the kraken and anchor.

4.) I hid my previous layers then I made a propeller design.

5.) I chose a desired color for my propeller.

6.) I unhided the layers that I made to see if it is good.

7.) Next, I created a layer for the bubbles.

8.) I created a new layer for the black background.

9.) I created a new layer for the highlights and white outline.

Some suggestions:

10.). Next, I used adobe Illustrator for this back design.

11.) I used Adobe Cs6 with this process. I have few knowledge on how to use this application.

In the end, it was satisfying that I made my very own design for our team and will make it as a strength.
