Arts, Advocacy and Opportunity in the Gold Country

Hello fellow Steemians! My name is Jayme Hardy and I work as an art instructor for a local nonprofit called The Neighborhood Center of the Arts, in Grass Valley California. We provide a safe space for adults with special abilities ( we feel the word disability is limiting, as an artist who can weave a 3' rug blind is certainly not lacking in ability ) to develop artistic and interpersonal skills through creative self-expression and community outreach. Each of our artists have unique interests and abilities, which we strive to support through a plethora of artistic mediums such as; drawing/painting, mixed media, photography, fiber arts, ceramics, digital arts, radio/podcast, gardening, woodworking, jewelry and etsy. The artists make a commission off of each work they sell, allowing them to earn a wage for their significant efforts, as well as empowering them to continue participating in their community, and developing independence.

We are currently preparing to welcome the Nevada County community to explore our space of creative self-expression during our Spring Fling event on May 18th, 2018. We will have games, BBQ (hotdogs donated by our local organic foods coop), performances by the artists, plant sale and gallery tours happening from 10-4pm at 200 Litton Dr. Ste 212 in Grass Valley.
