Ascension. Pen drawing.

in artzone •  6 years ago

I just wanted to keep the pen moving. This was the result.

I wanted to do a simple drawing with a surreal landscape in the middle. That was the original intention, but when I got to the middle section, a messiah like figure jumped into mind. It might be because I just saw Peter Murphy do a Bauhaus set in a chapel here in Chicago.

I did the surrounding are first. Then I went back to cross-hatch the edges to give it some darker tones. This probably took the longest amount of time.

Here is a detail of the figure.

Thanks man. And I dig it!

Dang the end result turned out great! :)

All the details of the frame, which make us focus on the drawing in the middle, an alien looking place with a white floating figure in the middle. This is awesome. Really nice and fantastic. I wish this kind of scene is the start of a movie, that would be great :D.

Thank you. Someone on instagram told me it looked like a scene from 2001 a space odyssey. Who knows.

I love it, Anthony ! The composition is simple but it carries heavy spiritual undertones, you captured the pose of the believer very well with the outstretched arms and the floating of the figure in the middle of the frame...

Amazing detailing and inking, as usual, of course <3 I love how deft you are with handling tones and shading and complimenting the focus of your canvas with dark and light spaces so masterfully :)

Wonderful work <3

Thanks Spidey. I should also add that I'm not a religious person. I'm also not very spiritual.

I saw the other day you got a gift of watercolors. I would also like to send you a gift. For helping me out on here, and all your compliments and what not.

aaaaaaa yea, im not very religious/spiritual either, but i like......... the imagery. Almost the .... that uh, deeply ingrained faith or zealotry (for lack of better word) that can be palpable in some symbols and images.

Aaaah you are so sweet, Anthony, but I don't do what I do for returns, so if you would like to give me a gift, I rather that you make more arts :D Maybe you can make one with a prompt / theme word from me? But you know, it is in itself very rewarding, to get to know talents like yourself, and to be able to support you and share in your artistic journey :) Really!

Thanks so much <3 I am really touched * ___ *

A really very nice drawing! I do drawings myself on intuition.

I love how you inked this! The floating form in the darkness and the soft moonlight is such a treat for the eyes!
