Proud

When an artist is proud? There is a belief that an artist is proud when he succeeds in selling his art. Of course to everyone that would show only positives. What can be better than being paid, being appreciated. Wait!!!? Does appreciated and sold are the same things? They just may not be.

Well i put one of my white charcoal works which i sold to a person from England. He later framed the work and i got this photo. It was more than a year ago, yet to this day this photo makes me extremely proud. Proud of myself and what i achieved. But it is far from the fact that i sold his work. I dont really remember the price, but it was not an important amount. At least not the one i should and would like to remember. Maybe at that moment the fact that you sell something is what makes you happy, but there's is this fact of appreciation which makes you happy years, i mean years after the work is gone. And it is not because of the money, but because something you have created is used and appreciated by another person. That your creation serves this purpose. The purpose of importance and every day someone sees and looks at it and thinks something. That makes me personally proud as an artist.

Well i have been thinking lately about selling and artists in general and i think i will soon touch one thing and talk a bit about this. About the importance to sell, and the pressure artist feel to sell. Because no one starts doing art to sell. We do it cause we love it.
