🎨 Nonplanetary Landscape II - original painting

in artzone β€’Β  7 years agoΒ  (edited)

The concept of Nonplanetary Landscape was something I wanted to manifest with a series of at least 5 paintings, however, so far I only made two. My idea was to wrap the surface of a planet to something different than a sphere, in case of Nonplanetary Landscape II it's a torus. To create my reference for this painting I used the topology and textures from Google Earth and wrapped it in 3D-software into a torus.

I like that direction - hope you continue, because this looks very promising. I can see some of your drone images being used for this.

Interesting idea! And now I'm trying to imagine exploring a torus planet and how gravity and general barrelling through space would work XD

Yeah, the gravity might be funny around such a thing! :-)
The space-time would have to be twisted the same way, otherwise the whole thing would collapse back into a sphere!

Thats amazing! It really gives you the sense of scale.

Creative Idea my friend ! Who kn ows if a pyramid is the most stable form in an other universe ? No one can say :P

That's a cool concept! I always liked the idea of non-spherical habitats/planets in space -- donut planets, dyon spheres, halos/ringworlds.

Wow that looks great! I love the perspective too.
