8ft Chainsaw carved T-rex

Back when I was just a rookie carver, and even to this day I accept all challenges when it comes to custom orders. This one was certainly challenging but I was confident I could do it. An 8ft dinosaur? Sure why not, if I didn't like it then carve another. But no need...

...was happy with the end result and so was the customer.

Here's a couple progress pictures from log to T-Rex...or just a couple cuts in. I remember back then, I used muscle power and old school ingenuity to lift the logs on end. Not so much anymore. We have access to skidsteers and a nice JCB to do the heavy lifting.

It looks like it could be anything at this point.
I was wondering how I was going to attach his tail


Using a large square mortise and tenon along with some gorilla glue (a favorite because it expands) I was successful!


After finding his tail and stepping back alot, found the head and body.

A daylight photo of the finished piece. I enjoyed carving this piece, it was back in 2012 I believe but it was one of the carvings that helped my confidence and business grow.
I also enjoy the ability to share an another platform such as Steemit. This place is awesome and the support it shows for the arts.
