AskSteem: Are you buying Steem?

in asksteem •  6 years ago  (edited)

Last time I asked this question I believe we were around the 25 cent prices and we noticed then how quickly we lost the opportunity to buy Steem at the same prices again. Crypto markets are fast and ruthless, we saw what happened last night as well when the news broke out that Bitfinex may have been using Tether to cover losses, Bitcoin went from a stable $5500 to $5000 in a matter of minutes. Open markets allowing anyone in the world to trade and interconnected to each other are something that have not existed before in the same way, it is going to get interesting and we have some wild rides ahead of us in the near future.

Even though I've had to sell some Steem lately I've been trying to make the most out of these dips and purchase when these occur, if anything you can make a quick profit when the correction occurs but if you are looking to hold on for the long term and then buying at the dips is your best shot. If we were to say that when Steem was at 20-25c in early 2019 and that was the lowest it will ever be, then having purchased, powered up and delegated to a project or dapp for returns is going to beat any other timeline. Even if it were to go down to 20c in the near future, the first 20c will have been way more profitable for holders and powered up accounts. I like that aspect of Steem as it incentivizes holders and people using their stake more than traders keeping it on exchanges looking to make a short to medium term profit, not that it's impossible but we as holders would still outperform them.

So seeing this recent Bitcoin crash due to the news which brought down most of the market and Steem included, are you buying at this point? There's a cool contest I noticed @streetstyle hosting called #spud which stands for Steem Power Up Day and it happens in a few days, would be interesting to see how much we could manage to power up or more importantly, how many accounts would be powering up on the same day. You should check it out. :)

Good thoughts, am expecting some $500 worth of bitcoin payments and was so happy when I saw the price down. It was a good indicator for investment.

Correct "@streetsyle" to "@streetstyle "

Hey, good looking out @uyobong

But it’s all good, it happens to all of us.😎✌🏽👍🏼🙏🏽👊🏼💯

Haha, woops, will edit, noticed a lot of other typos just now too. :D

I've been converting some Steemhunt into Steem lately, even though I plan to hold on to most as their project is really promising I can't help taking this opportunity when Steem is so low.

Really true and great business skill there.
I could consider that too @Acidyo.

Great suggestion and question. I'm not buying but am earning over on steemhunt for the most part recently. Now's the time IMO to be stacking it any way you can! As silly as it sounds I've never bought any steem but rather built my account through commenting mainly as somewhat of an experiment to see just how far I'd go. It's been loads of fun and beyond earning steem I've met so many wonderful people. My advice is stack it as tall as you can but beyond that, and more importantly, build those relationships here within the community cause it's here to stay and those relationships are far more important than anything else. To the MOON...........................

That's an interesting experiment, I also spent most of my first year commenting and curating with a trail that made my votes more effective. :) And yeah, good advice!

Glad this grassroots effort is getting the exposure it deserves! I bought 1k STEEM, just so I could participate in SPUD.

It's a cool initiative and will be interesting to see how many accounts it will reach, will try to throw some resteems to related posts until that day. :)

I almost bought yesterday but decided to wait for more fallout over the weekend when volumes are low. I tried to remain disciplined on only buying once per month but the price is enticing here. Maybe over the weekend!

I’ve made a Litecoin purchase through Coinbase that will be converted to Steem but will miss out on the #spud action. Thanks to antiquated financial systems they use, I won’t be able to power up until May 3rd 4th.

If steem goes down to about .25 cents, I'm buying at least $200 worth of it. I actually want to buy now but I'm waiting a bit longer because I think it could still go a little lower.

Do you mean steem price would go down to 20 cents?

Idk if it would. I mean, it’s possible. If it did though, I’d just buy more 😅

Me, too!

Yeah that's right now is good time to invest in steem, but at this momemnt i can't do that, because i am out of money. I never withdraw any steem out the platform and i will wait for better moment for sell steem. I hope so prices will rise in the next year after the halving bitcoin.

Yes, every night in my dreams I am buying STEEM at the rate of 4 to 1 goddamn flucking Pound Sterling!

I have some liquid ready for #spud :D

Are you fishing to buy Steem with it? Do you see a Steem price tag on every catch? lol

We need a fishing game on Steem. :D

A fishing game... pikeponzi? submergesteem?

I bought steem sometimes last year and will definitely gonna buy in the nearest future

yes about 1/2 hour ago

I'm participating in #SPUD, I may be able to Power Up more than 100 Steem. And if I'm able I will buy some Steem in a couple of days to Power Up even more.

Buying to power up is basically what I do, am also powering up 50% of all my earnings really, drop in prices should be a bitter sweet thing because there's or will be opportunity to buy

If it goes under 25 cents I will probably buy some. :D

Shouldn't be impossible if Bitcoin were to go back under 4200 but I kinda doubt that will happen anymore.

Not buying at the moment, but been powering up 100% for a while, and plan to continue doing so.

If Steem does go down all the way to 20c again, I might be tempted to scrounge up $100 and put it in there, because I do believe this ecosystem has a positive future ahead.

=^..^=

Thanks for the support @acidyo much appreciated. 👊🏼👍🏼🙏🏽💯✌🏽😎💪🏼
And this downturn was quick but not that bad and actually has stabilized again.
I think before, the Btc price volatility would have been more brutal for btc and worse yet for alts, so the trajectory upwards is still holding.

Yeah Steem was not hit all too bad, hopefully it's a sign that we might be heading upwards soon. :)

Btw, could you read the comment I wrote to you yesterday. :D

Again thanks for the support and yes I did, thanks for the reminder. I willl up vote as soon as I get a chance. 👊🏼👍🏼

Thank you, much appreciated! :)

After my 1st trade, I bought another 70 steem because I had some cash. Now, I will buy in 25ish days when I see how much money I will have before my next paycheck. It's tight but I hope to have some fiat. We'll see.

#sendfiatbruh :)

Read this, talked it over with my wife, and decided now was the time to buy!

I bought some more the other day, just before the price fell off the cliff. You can't time price crashes by when I buy... :|

Tried to today...No one wants to sell me any...Everyone I know is hanging onto it.

Exchanges make it easier but yeah, buying Steem off of real holders is harder than one might think. :D

I'm a bit reluctant to use my credit card or bank account. Spoke to @tarazkp about it today actually. Would rather buy it direct from a user for cash paper tokens. I buy my silver the same way.

I have never powered down in my entire time here, yet I am very close to that decision. I fear that there may be competition coming from Dan/EOS. Not sure what that may look like or when.

Thanks for the support today :)

I would be, if I didn't have a 20% chance to be jobless in a few weeks. Last time I was in this position I doubled down on Steem and managed to keep my job... maybe that could happen again.

Good luck with that. ^^

Worst case scenario just start streaming on vimm 16h a day. :D

Lol, I've had three weeks of leave and was working on Steem content full time. I have enough content for a post a day until July :)

I could definitely stream 12 hours a day... Then devote 4 to making sure I'm on top of actifit!

Go 10 posts per day! :D

Sorry, I don't play drugswars anymore!
