AskSteem: What's a good TV Show you've enjoyed lately?

in asksteem •  6 years ago  (edited)

I'm kinda trying to find the time for some peace and quite lately while focusing back on posting and possibly making the most out of probably the last month before the new hardfork that will make curation great again? hopefully. I used to watch a lot of TV Shows and movies before Steem, somehow it feels I haven't watched much for the past 3 years, only recently started again and have gone through a lot of movies from 2016-2019 but not as many TV Shows as I'd like. I've seen probably most before that except the bad ones or those that just don't interest me, stuff like grey's anatomy or gossip girl. Some of my favorites are The Office, watched this one from season 2 all the way through as it was being aired. Friends, watched these after all had aired but have watched it through probably 4-5 times, even though I know most jokes by heart I just watch it cause it's kinda chill/comforting/I don't know, it's nice. Rick and Morty is probably up there in my top 3, can't wait for the next season and all the episodes promised, hope that won't take forever, november can't come fast enough. Then there are many other obvious ones, some that stood out that I don't see many mentioning are Firefly and Jericho.

I haven't been able to notice if something new has come out lately that's worth checking out so I figured I write a post and see what the people following me have to offer, if they have anything. I may subconsciously judge your taste based off my memory of your Steem activity or judge you after watching the show, sorry about that, let me make it up with an upvote for your suggestions either way and who knows maybe I'll like it so much that I'll follow you and check out what other things you do on Steem or decide to downvote you once HF21 is here cause of the shit you made me watch! just kidding, maybe. :p

What's a good show you've been watching lately that you could recommend a showaholic?

You've probably already seen some of these.....

The Expanse ..is pretty friggin epic and 5th season was announced recently.

Star Trek Discovery. I personally think this is one of the best Star Trek franchises.

The Boys ...Not so great super heroes.

The First 48 if you like reality cop drama.

Money Heist is a good bank robber series.

With all these replies...I think you have a good start!

This comment basically put together all recommendations so far I've been wanting to check out, voting to the top so I can find it easier later. :D

Ha! Look ma!
I'm Famous!

Ooh, always down to recommend shows! A lot of what I watch are comedies but hope you'll enjoy at least one of them!

Brooklyn Nine Nine- A comedy detective cop series! I just really love the humour and jokes and charas! You may or may not have seen at least one scene from this series especially this one

The Good Place - Another comedy! About Eleanor who basically went to the show's version of "heaven" by mistake because she definitely wasn't a great person when she was alive. But she tries better herself to at least earn her place there. Best to watch with little to no info about the show because it's suuuper easy to get spoiled. It has some interesting take on "good" and "bad" morality. Gonna have it's 4th and final season this premiering at fall I think

iZombie- Comedy detective series!...with zombies! This one you might not get THAT into from the get go and requires watching several eps to get into it(Like it did from my friend) It's a about Liv who got turned into a zombie after going to a boat party that went horribly wrong. She has to live off of eating brains of the peeps that are sent to the morgue she works at and would get the memories and even their personality trait for a period of time(my fave brain was DnD brain. knight brain and dominatrix brain) She uses this to help her police detective friend to solve crimes. It's just finished airing it's 5th and final season a few days ago~ For me it's the kind of series where you're more invested in the charas rather than the plot itself

Bojack Horseman- A Netflix series. This one is also a comedy that can get pretty real. Basically about a horse guy named Bojack who has a looooooooooot of issues and tries to deal with them sometimes but not really in healthy ways. Try your best to not skip the intro sequence for this one because sometimes what happens in the series is reflected in the intro

Modern Family- Another comedy yet again! It's about a family, how they go about their day to day lives and all the crazy shenanigans they'd get themselves in. Filming style is similar to The Office where there'd be times the chara(s) would be by themselves talking to the camera commentating on how they feel/talk about something relevant to the current situation they're in

Surprisingly enough, Amazon Prime Video finally has a show that doesn't make my penis deflated and flaccid with how god fucking awful they usually are. The Boys is a very gritty, fucked up and entertaining show about superheros. But, instead of being good guys they're a bunch of fucking degenerates. The main antagonist is basically superman if he was a narcissistic maniac. I'm 5 episodes deep and this shit makes me absolutely sodden. Highly recommend checking it out.

this sounds like something i would enjoy.

If you liked the show Preacher at all then I feel like you'll for sure like this show. The source material it was based off of is made by the same guy who made the Preacher comics, and the producers and other workers on this show also worked on the Preacher show as well.

I'm not sure if you'll pop a fat stiffy at this show, but it'll at least make you somewhat moist I'm sure.

looks like i'm gonna have to TPB this one. Prime no worky in my country.

Yeah, I used a torrent site as well because I don't have the fucking money for Amazon Prime. Especially when their 2 day shipping in reality is always 5-9 day shipping where I live. No idea why it was always so bad, I'm guessing maybe some voodoo witch doctor started working at the local post office and got offended when he/she received a defective sex toy from Amazon, therefore cursing the rest of us to having a miserable time with them.

Money Heist!

The Alcasser Murders - True Crime Story, set south of Valencia, where we live

Meowolf - It's a documentary about artists, not so much a series

RuPaul's Drag Race - One of the best reality shows ever and it doesn't matter what you're "into" these QUEENS ARE FIERCE!

American Gods ... 2 Seasons ... A fight between old gods and modern day gods with many twists.

Hanna ... 1 Season ... Same story as that of the movie, but with many new interesting things and providing answers to many un-answered questions from the movie.

Legacies ... 1 Season ... Story of Hope Mikaelson, daughter of Niklaus Mikaelson from The Originals.

Outlander ... 4 Season ... A married woman accidentally travelled back in time. It is an amazing series, and you'd enjoy every second of it if you're fond of historic movies and 18th century environment, based on Diana Gabaldon's historical time travel book series.

I don't know @acidyo if you are into gangster stuff. There is very great show in hindi called Sacred Games. But you can easily get English Audio and Subtitles to enjoy it on Netflix. It shows how a long time gangster topples the life of the central character by exposing secrets about a government funded conspiracy that can destroy the city of Mumbai in 25 days. Tik Tok on the clock. The show runs in two timelines. Both timelines have been directed by different directors ( Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap) and they are the masters of their craft.

Timeline 1 tells about the rise of Ganesh Gaitonde as one of the biggest gangsters of all time in India during the 80s.

Timeline 2 starts from his re-entry(after 20+ years) to the Mumbai City in the current day.

Let me know if this kind excites you. Crime, Drama, Mystery, Underworld.

Sacred Games S01: https://www.netflix.com/title/80115328

S02 will be out on 15th Aug (Independence Day of India).

Watch “the boys” from amazon.

Second recommendation for this! Guess I should check it out!

After Stargate stop airing new episodes oh so many years ago I kind of stopped watching TV.

I’m a couple seasons behind on The Expanse but that was amazing when I did watch it.

Haven't watched that but heard good things, gonna give this one a try too!

You're not watching television if you're not clocking in hours of Yu-Gi-Oh! Not all the spin-offs either, I'm talking the regular, degular first installment. Little known fact it is packed with a thrilling story, lasting five seasons! Don't sell it short if you don't wanna get burned by its plot twists and turns.

Not all the spin-offs either

I see what you did there xD

I know what I can do, so I do what I can. No right turns on red.

I'm a bot. I detect haiku.

Good Omens is outstanding. So many actors from Doctor Who are in the series and there are little easter eggs all through.

Oh haven't heard of that one, will check it out, thanks!

It is on amazon prime. I think you will dig it.

OK I don't have any streaming services or cable or anything, so my show recommendations are not new, but if you haven't seen Black Sails, I really recommend that one. Miracle Workers was adorable and fun. Orphan Black is another good one. The Americans is good so far - it might be finished as a series by now, but I've only seen like three seasons because it's been an errant "buy an episode off Amazon here and there" watch for me when I have money/am bored. XD

Blown Away on Netflix. I'm not usually a fan of 'reality' TV, with contestants and judges and eliminations; but this was fast paced and the stuff they made was incredible. (Glass blowing)
I was disappointed at how short it was, so not a huge time commitment.

Dark , Stranger things, Jessica Jones, The 100, The unbrella academy, Dirk Gently...

Trailer Park Boys is a show i could rewatch right now and I've already seen it like 3 times.😆 But also Snowfall is really nice and the 3rd season just started!!

Punisher on Netflix! To bad Netflix cancelled all it’s marvel shows 😢

Punisher was pretty good but I feel like there wasn't nearly enough actual "punishing" in it. Kinda sad i feel like they could've made it much better.

Swamp thing was pretty good and I’m currently watching The Boys on Amazon which is well not everyone’s cup of tea but pretty interesting

The Magicians on Netflix. Some weird stuff going on in it but it is somewhat interesting to watch.

Big Bang Theory. Funny as hell.

Forged in Fire - History Channel

Nice challenge

Right now I'm watching The Boys, one of the best series of superheroes ever made, shows a face of this kind of characters never seen before.

Interesting haven't heard of this one one before, will check it out!

I like Berlin-Babylon about this I knew from my mate from Germany bus suddenly it turned out interesting for me. That time(first part of 20th century) that characters. So I put plus for it.

I'm sort of picky with what I watch nowadays, most of the television makes me bored, but I've really enjoyed Money Heist. Then couple Nordic Noir series I really liked are Bridge and Midnight Sun. And Vikings too!

Posted using Partiko Android

Depends what you are into. For comedy, Grace and Frankie is brilliant. Supernaturnal i would reccomend Lucifer, Grimm or true blood - all excellent!

For something a bit odd and strange i would say 'end if the f**kn world' and of course black mirror - such a brilliant show!

One you may not have heard of is outrageous fortune. Tv show from new zealand with some great humor.

Ill stop now 😃 hope that helps!!!

I used to watch true blood a long time ago but I stopped at season 4-5 or so, also didn't like the main character/actress at all but the others were cool.

Hey there... I and my partner watched shows a lot. I can't remember all, but we certainly loved: Lucifer, lie to me, mentalist, castle, true blood, suits, warehouse 13, etc. 😊 I think Lucifer will most definitely get you hooked up to the screen.😉 Enjoy.

Lie to me :D such a classic! I loved suits too! Hmm have not been to fond to check out Lucifer based on clips I've seen of it but maybe I should give it a try!

The Americans, Deadwood! :)

Sex Education is really good, as is Bodyguard from BBC

I got bored of sex ed like two episodes in when I still had Netflix going, hmm. Have seen a clip from bodyguard and it looked intense, should give it a try.

Bodyguard started nicely, but then I got bored of it. But sex ed, on the other hand, I watched thoroughly.

Two shows I recently really enjoyed were Imposters and In the Dark. They're both on Netflix right now.

Aquarius is something I am working on now... quite good.

I think the best show I have seen in a while that I binge-watched and actually enjoyed all episodes and rarely picked up my phone would be "Dead to Me" with Christina Applegate.

Miz TV show. Lol. Do you watch Wrestling? Smile.

Posted using Partiko Android

I do not, even tho my nickname comes from the wrestler Trent Acid :P

Hahahaha....smile. That's cool thou. But I beg you to watch wrestling, it entertaining but not too true.

The Good Place & Sex Education are 2 tv shows I can enjoy easily while having my brain turned off.

Columbo
Spartacus
Vikings
Prison break
Breaking bad
black sails

How I met your mother is fantastic.

Ah yeah that's good but I don't feel like watching that one more than once, dunno what it is. Just too much? Also I kinda dislike Ted. xD

Lmao i also dislike Ted. I don't know what it is about him

I really enjoyed Chernobyl, for some reason I'm fascinated with Eastern European culture, so besides the great show, I really enjoyed learning about Ukraine.

Film wise - I'm a sucker for period dramas (yah, i'm a typical chick) and I just watched The Imitation Game this weekend, LOVED IT! In a similar vein and keeping up with the Eastern European fascination, Red Joan ticked all the boxes, with a granny in the UK being charged with conspiracy and being a Communist spy in the Second World War.

Oh yeah, dang I watched that one, guess I've watched more than I let know in the post. Watched all of GOT too but not much else this past 3 years. Chernobyl was really good!

I think I've heard of that movie but haven't checked it out, sometimes I can just watch movies cause I like some of the actors no matter the genre. :D
