What got you into crypto currencies?

in asksteemit •  9 years ago  (edited)

I read about bitcoin in December 2010 via some libertarian news sites and thought it was an interesting concept. I really paid attention once it hit parity with USD. From that point I was hooked, and like every other computer geek at the time, I started buying up all the AMD graphics cards I could find and started mining.

It's been one hell of a rollercoaster since then. I was as bullish on bitcoin as everyone else during the 2011 bubble to ~$36.... I even thought it might hit $100 within the next 5 years.... but I would have never guessed that it would ever be worth the current price of $650!

How about you, what interested you and got you excited?

Wow, so you were into this really early! My younger brother mentioned to me back in 2010 that there was this internet currency thing and that we should buy $100 of it. I dismissed him at the time, thinking that it was just some kids with play money. It wasn't until years later (2013) that I really did my homework after getting into things through Dogecoin. At first I liked the fun community that formed around that coin, but soon begun seeing the potential this tech had to be world changing. I've been pretty active ever sense.
