According to reports, the British police said: "The 47-year-old Julian Assange was arrested at the Embassy of Ecuador on April 11 by police officers of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPS) in London." British police said they arrested Assange It took place after the “Ecuadorian government withdrew its asylum and the Ambassador of Ecuador invited them to the embassy”.
In this regard, WikiLeaks said that Ecuador’s withdrawal of Assange’s asylum status was illegal; the Ecuadorian ambassador “invited” the British police to arrest Assange.
Assange created the WikiLeaks website in 2006. In 2010, the website published US military secret videos and 250,000 US diplomatic documents. In the same year, the Swedish prosecutor issued an arrest warrant against Assange on charges of rape and sexual harassment, and Assange denied the allegations.

Since 2012, Assange has been hiding in the Embassy of Ecuador in London. He was asked for political asylum because he was worried that the activities of WikiLeaks were extradited to the United States by the Swedish government. Assange has said that he is very worried that Sweden will extradite him to the United States. In the United States, he will face allegations of leaking government secrets and may be sentenced to death.
In December 2018, Ecuadorian President Moreno said that he had received written assurances from the United Kingdom that Assange would not be extradited to a country that could endanger his life. He can leave the country’s embassy in London and the related security concerns “have been cleared”. However, Assange rejected the agreement reached between Britain and Ecuador because it did not guarantee that Assange would not be extradited to the United States.
In January 2019, Ecuador’s Foreign Minister Valencia said that for Assange, who was hiding in the embassy of London, “the surrender to the British government” is the best choice.
