I am a big fan of Assasins Creed. Moreover, I am a huge fan of history, cultur and ancient sites. Whenever I travel somewhere I go explore the local culture and the history behind it.
However, the last time I went to Egypt I was disappointed. In all the tourist attractions, there were a lot of local people trying to sell stuff, some trinkets here and there and some occasional camel rides. There was an overwhelming pressure, and I did not really feel able to enjoy the ancient culture in the way I would have liked to.
Assasins Creed plays on history and lore. They have built amazing graphical cities, and the overall map is just HUGE. It would take days to travel across it. Why not use the already made graphics and details to make a guided tour? Well thats exactly what they did.
In collaboration with archeologists and historians. The latest Assasins Creed DLC has developed a great experience. They have taken the best from the game, and Incorporated the history behind the great Egyptian era.
I started off in Alexandria, I walked up to the first point of interest, and this pleasent voice took me through an increadible adventure. It talked about Alexander the Great, Cleopatra, her brother, Ceaser and all the complicated political intricacies.
After Alexandria I went on to the history of the pyramids, and eventually to the people of Egypt and their history. There is a timeline and everything is explained in a nicely fashion.
Its one thing to actually read about all this, its a whole different thing when you can move around in game and explore as the narrator talks about the different people and the history. I am not sure if this is possible in VR, but I can only imagine how great that would have been.
I am very positive to this new addition to the game, and only hope that future games do similar projects. They did not have to make this DLC, and they did not have to make it free even.
I would recommend everyone that has AC: Origins to try this new DLC, and if you dont already have the game, and your like me, its definitely worth trying.
What do you think about this guided tour? Have you tried it? Are you going to try it?
