To describe astral projection in plain English it’s this: it is an out of body experience. Plain and simple. Your astral body literally floats away from your physical body. Sounds bizarre and perhaps something that came from a sci-fi movie, but it happens. More often than you know. So what exactly does it feel like to astral project and what else should we know about it?

Let’s bust some myths and answer some questions about it.

1. What does it feel like and is it safe?


It really feels exactly as it sounds if you can imagine your body floating away from you and you are completely aware of it. It is very surreal and exhilarating at the same time and yes, it’s safe.

2. Is this a gift you are born with?


Nope, anyone can astral project, but it does require patience and practice. Contrary to popular belief, age is not a factor. In fact, children are naturals at it as they have a wonderful imagination and believe anything is possible, where adults are still doubtful of their capabilities.

Though it may feel like you have been gone for days, months or even years, the astral state actually only last a few hours. You can feel like you’ve experienced your whole life. The projection can last as long as you want it to. You can control the length of time.

There is what is called a Silver Cord which still connects you at a soul level. Some have claimed to see it though you may or may not see it. It cannot be severed. Only in death can this happen.

While there are, in fact, some negative entities, it is quite easy to move away from them so no harm can come to you. During your astral state you still have power over your thoughts and mind. You can easily steer yourself away from any negativity you come across.

6. What’s the difference between lucid dreaming and astral projection?


How do you know which state you are in? There is a clear difference. With lucid dreaming, you are doing just that, dreaming, while you are asleep, yet you still have power over your dreams. In astral projection you are not sleeping at all but wide awake. You are leaving your body and anyone or anything you connect with are very real.

7. Can I see dead people or is that just a myth?


You sure can. Not only that, you can help them find their way to the light so they may safely pass over to the other side. You can talk to dead relatives too if you so choose to.

Can I really fly around? Yes, all around the earth if you want. You can also fly to other planets, different realms, talk to spirits. You name it, you can do it. The possibilities are endless. There isn’t anything you can’t do.|

9. Do I have to practice for a long time before I can achieve the astral projection state?


Some have said to project the first or second time they tried . Others have said it takes a lot of practice before they get there and even then it’s not a perfect projection.

10. What are the benefits of astral projection if any at all?


The benefits to this are simply that you reach an expanded consciousness enabling you to see the world and your life in a totally different light. You become more spiritual and are eager to learn and understand more about the astral realm. Stepping out of your comfort zone and into a new world are very liberating and exhilarating.

Astral projection can take some time to learn, but if you are one of the lucky ones it can happen quickly, and everyone should try to reach that state at leas t once in their lifetimes to experience the beauty and the lightness of it. It truly is mind blowing. Try it.

@justallen Great article. One thing I've learned is to never fully believe what you see, when astral projection/lucid dreaming. At least for myself, the brain seems to create a reality that I am familiar with rather than something more accurate.

The first few times I had spontaneous lucid dreams, when I'd look at my body, there was nothing there, only "static" like what you'd see on an old TV. I had no idea what was happening to me let alone why I didn't have a body. After the first couple of lucid dreams my mind created a body.

Another example, is that you may see intelligent "humans", but they don't act anything similar to human. What they are? I don't know fully. Just my thoughts on it :)
