in astronomy •  7 years ago

Vega is the brightest star in the constellation Lyra, and the fifth brightest in the night sky.
Vega is the next most important star in the sky after the Sun, Vega has served as the baseline for calibrating the photometric brightness scale.Vega is only about a tenth of the age of the Sun, Vega has unusually low abundance of the elements which are higher atomic number than that of helium.Vega is also a suspected variable star.
Vega's disk also suggest the presence of at least one planet, likely to be about the size of Jupiter, in orbit around Vega.
