Yesterday was one of the most magnificent sporting events in modern history. Sports just don't get as thrilling, as terse, as last nights game. Tying for second in length for a World Series game, it had everything. One team would get ahead, then the other, then the other. I only caught the last three innings, and I'm not sure I regret missing the other four hours or so, but I'll never forget the winning point for the Astros. I literally started thrashing around on the sofa next to my girlfriend and shouting in glee.
Let me be clear: I don't consider myself a sports fan. I like and root for my home teams, but don't really pay attention until they make finals/play offs/etc. I get annoyed when they're failure feel like they remain the same over the course of years, but I never fully turn against my team (well, I'll admit to being very lukewarm about the Texans, still sore about the Oilers leaving decades ago, haha).
But anyway, for those of you who are sports fans, I'm going to ahead and recommend that you watch tonight's game and all games down to the final one. Both teams are fighting for their lives, and it makes for incredible sports viewing.
