With the unusually mild weather this weekend, @msvee and I decided to take a little drive around to find some neat abandoned houses to photograph for this week's #aswcontest by @customnature.
We didn't have to go very far from our house, as our neck of the woods is absolutely festooned with these ramshackle relics. A couple of them, in fact, were houses we considered buying many years ago as a renovation project. I guess we were their last lifeline, because they have sat unoccupied and untouched ever since.
This particular one sits in the woods by Shickshinny Lake about 5 minutes from our house. Like many of the older houses in this area, this American Federalist-style bungalow is over 100 years old, probably dating from the mid-1800s judging from the construction and materials used. Many of the features are long gone due to the sometimes violent storms we get around here. I especially love the faceted triangular window set into the gable.
Maybe someday someone will rescue this ol' gent. Or, more likely, the forces of nature will reclaim it.
amazing capture...which camera do you used??
