Mustafa Kemal, in the final months of 1915, when the Dardanelles War had lost its violent force, believed that he could defeat the enemy from the coasts by shattering the enemy with a final attack. This proposal, however, was not accepted by Marshal Liman von Sanders, commander of the 5th Army, with the fear that the enemy's artillery fire would cause heavy losses. There was nothing left to do on this front. On December 9, 1915, Mustafa Kemal gave command of the Anafartalar group to Fevzi (Çakmak) Pasha, left Canakkale and returned to Istanbul.

On 16 January 1916 Mustafa Kemal was appointed to the 16th Corps Command in Edirne. After a short time Mustafa Kemal was appointed commander of this corps. By the decision of the Corps headquarters he was then ordered to Diyarbakir and to establish a new corps with the same name on the Eastern Front.

He came to Diyarbakir on 27 March 1916 and took command. On 1 April 1916 he was promoted to General. After a brief preparation after his arrival at Diyarbakır on August 2, 1916, he attacked his forces in the direction of Bitlis and Muş

There were violent clashes between the Russians and the divisions of the Turks in the form of attacks and counter-attacks. Finally, on 8 August 1916 Muş and on 8 August 1916 Bitlis was rescued from the enemy occupation by the Turkish troops.

On 25 August 1916 Muş had unfortunately fallen back into the hands of the Russians but on 30 April 1917 Mustafa Kemalzum liberated the town from the Russian invasion for the second time.

From here on Mustafa Kemal was recognized for his previous merits the additional title Pasha.

Mustafa Kemal Pasha, who served as commander of the 16th Army Corps on the Eastern Front, was appointed second Army Commissioner by deputy on 12 December 1916 when Ahmet Izzet Pasha temporarily went to Istanbul. Chief of Staff of this army headquarters in Diyarbakir was Colonel İsmet Inönü Bey. Mustafa Kemal Pasha and Inönü Bey meet here for the first time and from now on they worked closely together.

When Mustafa Kemal Pasha was called to command Hijaz Kuvve-i Seferiyesi on 17 February 1917, he went to Damascus and inspected the Sinai front. Here he was appointed deputy commander of the second army for a short time.

On 16 March 1917 Mustafa Kemal Pasha, who returned to Diyarbakir, was brought to the 2nd Army Command. However, he did not remain in this position either, and on 5 July 1917 he was appointed to the Seventh Army Command, which was decided in Aleppo, and under him the Group Command of the Lightning Armies Group was founded. The commander of the Lightning Army Group was Marshal Falkenhayn.

After a while, however, there were disagreements with Marshal Falkenhayn regarding military opinions and the measures to be taken. Mustafa Kemal Pasha resigned from the seventh army command on 6 October 1917. He was again offered his former post at Diyarbakır, but he refused and went on holiday to Istanbul.

On 7 November 1917 he was assigned to the General Staff in Istanbul.
Shortly thereafter, however, he joined Vahdettin Efendi on his journey to Germany to visit the German headquarters and fronts. During this trip, which covered the period from 15 December 1917 to 4 January 1918, Mustafa Kemal conducted investigations and inspections in German military circles. Here he met Kaiser Wilhelm, the broad and prominent commander of the time. He explained to them openly and clearly his views on the possible consequences of the First World War, even if his opponents did not like his views.

From here Mustafa Kemal Pasha travelled to Vienna and Karlovy Vary because of a kidney problem. After his 20 day journey to and in Germany he returned to Istanbul.

After the return of this trip, which took place between 13 May 1918 and 4 August 1918, Mustafa Kemal Pasha was ordered to the seventh army under the command of Marshal Liman von Sanders, who had been appointed commander of the group of lightning armies instead of Marshal Falkenhayn. 26 Ağustos He arrived in Aleppo in 1918. Mustafa Kemal Pasha was able to conduct successful defensive battles against the British on this front.

In view of the strengthened British armed forces, the Turkish army in this region was freed from its disintegration by its superior rule and had managed to move to Aleppo in a big wave. But the World War developed against Germany and its allies.

On 29 September 1918 Bulgaria withdrew from the war, on 4 October 1918 Germany demanded an Austro-Hungarian ceasefire on 5 October 1918.

In Istanbul the cabinet of the Talaat Pasha resigned, and on 14 October 1918 the new cabinet was founded by Ahmet Izzet Pasha.

In view of these developments, Mustafa Kemal Pasha continued to submit military and political proposals to the authorities, but was unable to get them through.

On 30 October 1918, the Ottoman state finally withdrew from the First World War with the Mondros armistice with the enemy states.
