My Atlas Ambassador application

in atlasambassador •  2 days ago

Last week I posted to STEEM Atlas.

I liked the experience, there is always a nice tickle when I create something new and beautiful and I contribute to a project, that in my humble opinion, has future.

So, after considering the idea for a few days, I am today applying to be an Atlas Ambassador for my home country, Bulgaria.

Brief history and Bio:

I joined Steemit on March 2018.

After a long period of inactivity, about eleven months ago I returned and started to post on Steemit again.

I was a hobbyist photographer and since 2014 I became a pro photographer.

I love to travel, my main focus is on beautiful old Europe, but I have been to some countries in Asia and Northern America too.

I have Master of Sciences degree in Engineering, I play guitar and I have professional experiences in the fields of IT, Management, Energy, some NGO related activities, and of course, Arts.

From time to time, I like to write as well. I guess I don't need to mention it, I am implicitly a crypto ambassador :)

Languages:

  • Bulgarian - mother's tongue

  • English - I'd say fluent: reading, writing, speaking, I feel comfortable with all those activities. :)

  • French - B2 European level. I studied it for two years, as I love French cinema and I don't want to read the movie subtitles while watching :) So I read and understand the most, write some basic stuff but I don't feel confident to speak. That's because no opportunities I suppose. Practice makes perfect as some say.

  • Russian - I studied it in primary school, back in the days Bulgaria was a part of the socialist block of countries and we were all obligated to learn it :) I can read and understand but can't write or speak properly. As a child and teenager I've read more books in Russian than Bulgarian as I was a huge fan of SciFi books and there weren't enough published in Bulgarian to satisfy my thirst. :)))

A suggestion for a new feature:

Let me first share a story with you.

Between 1998 and 2008 I worked for a UK IT company with headquarters in London. I was traveling back and forth to London a lot during that decade and I had something like a ritual on each arrival.
I would check-in to my hotel for the stay, and then make a stroll at the banks of River Thames and have a pint of Guinness. Alone or with my colleagues, it didn't matter, all it mattered was that happens on the same day of my arrival :)

As you can guess, the taste of those pints hasn't changed through time, but the price of those pints did.

So I think a new feature to the STEEM Atlas map, called something like "Beverage and Food Locator" would be quite interesting and useful so people could check real reviews of other travelers.

Posts under that feature shouldn't be very long - I imagine a shot or two of the beverage or the dish itself, accompanies by the locale name, a receipt with the price eventually, the datetime of the visit and a honest opinion about the product served and the service itself.

I also imagine there would be a switch/filter somewhere in the frontend to allow only such posts to be seen, "separated" from the "regular" posts. That would require a dedicated hashtag, I reckon.

By the way, I found a similar web site with beer prices but it has info almost only from UK and I believe STEEM could be the perfect blockchain for such a cool dApp with its international userbase. I hope @pennsif finds such a feature cool and useful as well :) Moreover, people would have a real incentive to add more pins instead of only shilling about their business or simply volunteering.

Steem Atlas can benefit the STEEM platform:

  • new travel writers could join STEEM attracted by the rewards and the expanding community
  • existing bloggers will start to add more high-quality articles about the places they visit
  • new investors could join the STEEM platform to promote their business and eventually stay if engaged in a positive way
  • platform engagement will increase as a whole

Last but not least... let's have fun!

Now let me share some of my photographs from Bulgaria, as I would love that application to have something to do with Photography as well :)

If anyone is ambitious to become a Steem Atlas Ambassador, it's you! So many global experiences and an application that just sounds like fun and enthusiasm. Write more often, your style reads insanely well!
I'm determined to explore the Steem Atlas this weekend (or another... 🫣) and include a few old posts of mine. The project sounds very promising! The ambassadors make sure that not too much spam clogs up the map?
Good luck!

Thanks so much, you always find a way to encourage me and make my day brighter :)
That really means a lot especially given English isn't my primary language; of course, same goes back to you as well :)
I'll try to find the time to write more, even if you're my only admirer :)))

Indeed, the project has good vibes!

One of the tasks for the ambassadors would be to keep the quality high and increasing, that is my understanding, let's first see if I get recruited, lol.

even if you're my only admirer

Don't sell yourself short. Your photographs definitely have their fans...
By the way, I'm a total philistine when it comes to that: I don't take the time to appreciate your photos the way they deserve. One glance—nice, next—nice, next—nice, bye...
I just prefer reading... :-))

I will do my best :)

Photography is the Eight Art and each of them Arts is absolutely subjective to the eye and taste, and soul of the observer. So I am well aware there will be both people who love them, hate them and just ignore, I am used to all this.

What I really appreciate the most is that time spent to check out the stuff I share :) I think that's the only asset we "own" that is priceless. "Given" may be a better verb though.
"Love" too, of course, but we don't have any control over it, right :)))

I really appreciate your time checking out my stuff! :)
So, if there is any way I could help you or any of your endeavors (now that you know much more about me ;)), please don't hesitate to speak to me, you can count on me .

Thank you for applying to become an Atlas Ambassador.

We will be announcing our first selection of Ambassadors shortly after the closing date of 14 February.

Are there many active Steemians in Bulgaria at the moment?

Totally my pleasure and thank you!

I am aware of a few bloggers from Bulgaria, I wouldn't say they are "many".

By the way, is there any active Bulgarian witness? I am thinking in that direction as well. I know there was one back in 2018 but he quit silently, I didn't know him personally anyway.

I checked yesterday the other Ambassador applications and there weren't any bloggers from Europe, today I saw @o1eh has applied as well. Apart from Bulgaria, I've traveled a lot to Italy, Greece, Spain, the most of the Balkan countries, the list is long. So, if a broader European perspective is needed... you get my point ;)

Supporting the Steem Atlas project.

Thank you from the @pennsif.witness team.
