Author Name
This post was inspired by @sumsum on the Steemit Platform and I would have not blogged about this, as I didn't think too, but it is an important part of the process.
So, why a penn name or pseudonym ?
For me I felt that I needed to separate my writing. Blogging and non fiction writing as myself and fiction writing as my alter ego. Plus Sarah E Waring doesn't sound much like a mysterious fiction writer!
It took me literally minutes to decide on a name. (It took 3 years for my other business name) and it felt right.
I have never once thought it was the 'wrong' name.
I wanted to link it to a mysterious Icon, which is also the theme for my logo. This of course is the Fox, a mysterious and lucky animal.
I then thought about a first name and Aubrey immediately sprang to mind. I kept hearing the name before and I was constantly calling the lady at my grandmothers nursing home, Aubrey instead of Audrey.
Maybe it was meant to be?
So that is how I got to being Aubrey Fox.
There are disadvantages to this as people may get confused between the two, which is why branding has to be really thought out and if your sole aim is to write books and you have a cool name...why change it?
