##How to participate in FGN’s eAuction of ceased items

Hello Steemians,

This particular post is for Nigerians and taking out time to read this article will save you a few bucks from buying cars directly from dealers.

Do you know that you can bid for vehicles ceased by Nigerian Customs in an open bid auction? Yes you can, please ignore all those social media adverts with an invitation to bid for cars in a fake Nigeria customs auction, those are gimmicks to swindle you of your hard earned money. There is a dedicated website where eligible citizens can access to bid for items ceased by custom office. These items range from cars, clothing, logs, industrial materials, etc. Kindly see the screenshot of the website below:

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
To be part of the auction, you must,

  1. Have a valid TIN issued by FIRS with an active e-mail account.
  2. Be ready to pay a non-refundable fee of One Thousand Naira (₦1,000) as administrative.
  3. Be ready to make payment within five (5) working days, if bid is successful.

The DON’Ts

  1. If the winner fails to pay within five (5) working days, the auction will be closed and the Winner will be deactivated.
  2. The successful Bidder has two (2) weeks from the date of payment to remove the item bidded for or forfeit same at the expiration of the two (2) weeks.
  3. Any auction item not removed from the warehouse within fourteen (14) days from the date of payment shall revert to its pre-bidding status.
  4. Take note for overtime cargo, that the successful bidder shall in addition pay 25% charges for Shipping Line and Terminal operators respectively.
  5. Bidders shall not be allowed to bid for more than 2 items per bidding window.

HOW TO CLAIM YOUR BID
The winner will be required to present;
a) A valid copy of paid assessment and bank receipt (optional in case of e-payment);
b) A notarized letter in case owner sends representative. (Where owner is present uploaded photo on registration will do.);
c) Provide proper identification with notarized letter and International passport, Driver’s license, Voters card or National I.D.

I'll appreciate if you can take down this ur comment as its misinformation. I have friends who have won d bids and were not required to make additional payments to clear the car from the port.
