The Old Dog Advises: For Fun, Great Deals And Profit Use SteemBay. It's a Win, Win, Win Situation! My Experience.

in auction •  7 years ago  (edited)

Hey that was absolutely great! I put up a set of our 2017 SteemTradeCards for auction and set the price at 7.0 SBD. It was so fun to watch the bids come in and in and in until the final price of 21 SBD! Wow that was unexpected! What a hoot!

Disclaimer: I've never used Ebay and probably never will but I want Steembay to grow and succeed because it's OURS!

The Old Dog loves SteemBay! We need more Steemers using this service!

Let me Cover a Few Points About SteemBay

In this brief article I'd like to cover the following topics:

  1. What is SteemBay and how it works
  2. The monetary advantages of using SteemBay
  3. The Importance of SteemBay to the Steem ecosystem
  4. My really cool experience
  5. Improving SteemBay moving forward.

Let's go!

1. What is SteemBay And How it Works

As SteemBay writes in the header of their blog: "Earn SBD without blogging, just by selling items or services to those  who already own SBD. Get influence while keeping the tokens in the  system..." I couldn't have written it better myself!

All you have to do is write a post describing the article that you want to sell. Include pictures of course. Upload your post using steembay  as the first hash tag. You then just set the opening price that you desire in a comment on your post and voila.

You can see a full tutorial creating an auction and bidding on one here. Don't worry it's easy!

2. The Monetary Advantages of Using SteemBay

This is killer cool because both the buyer and the seller can be advantaged. Here's how:

  • Make money on upvotes on your post and not just on selling the item. Although the instructions suggest that you might want to decline payout, that is of course optional. In my case I use the votes to fund our SteemTradeCards project which otherwise operates at a loss now that we are gifting physical cards.
  • In my auction I offered to upvote the winning bid at 100% so that their buying price would be offset. That was a great incentive to my bidders and it worked out great.
  • Please keep in mind that SteemBay will not charge you anything for using their service. They make their money when you upvote their report posts and their bot comments on the bids! Let's help them succeed!

3. The Importance of SteemBay to The Steem Ecosystem

As we approach 1 million accounts (yes you read that right!) and growing we have a large audience with which to buy and sell. But that's nothing! The incredible thing is that we can continue to grow our INTERNAL economy. The more transactions we complete using SBD the stronger our monetary system becomes and we all benefit....big time!

4. My Really Cool Experience

Since I had two Steemers that got into a bidding war with @the-beard bidding 21 SBD and @thecrytotrader bidding 20 SBD I offered them the following deal (I contacted them at steemit.chat) and they accepted. This meant that I sold two sets of cards instead of one.

This is proof of the win, win, win situation that I was telling you about!

5. Improving SteemBay Moving Forward.

I was so excited with my experience using SteemBay that I reached out to the @pollux.one who is the Steemer  behind it to see if I could be of any help. He let me in on some of his ideas regarding the future of the platform. Here is what he wrote me:

Good to read that they've got plans to keep this project growing. I think that it's important to us all!

Closing Comments

For fun, great deals and profit use SteemBay. It's a win, win, win situation! Yes use it. It's ours and it's good for the Steem economy! I had a blast and I'll use it again! (Actually I've also been bidding on other Steemer's auctions but haven't won one yet!)

I hope that you enjoyed my review of SteemBay.

Until next time,

Hi @kus-knee. Interesting to hear your experience in using SteemBay. I hve been following them for some time after seeing @denmarkguy use them.

I was originally thinking about selling some art through them but it all seemed a bit complicated and I wasn't sure about how to handle the cost of postage.

I should maybe take another look not I'm a bit more familiar with Steemit in general.

I'm not sure how you get eyes on my auctions though. Could I get enough via the SteemBay posts do you think? I personally don't actually look at them.

Unlike you and @denmarkguy I don't have much of a following so I've been thinking it would probably be something worth looking into at a later point when more people were actually viewing my posts.

Glad to hear it worked well for you though! 😍

Two things:

1.) You set the opening bid and so if it's not met the item doesn't sell so you've got nothing to lose. At the very least you'll learn something and get some upvotes on your post.

2.) Check the price for postage to various locations and you can list that price separately. So much to send within Europe, so much for America etc...

I don't think his (SteemBays) posts get enough views to help you much (25-30). At least not yet. I'm going to start using it more because it's good for the platform and I would encourage other "bigger" Steemers to use it too. That doesn't mean that you shouldn't give it a go. Please do!

Thank you @kus-knee. I agree it would be good for the platform if some "bigger" Steemers use it too. The more it takes off the more people will get to experience buying "real" stuff with crypto.

Thanks for your encouragement to just give it ago. I will look into it a bit more and into postage etc. 😊

Edit: It took me over a year to get to 1,000 followers so you're doing pretty good. Keep having fun!

Thank you @kus-knee. Making sure it's fun is a key point. It can get a bit heavy here at times. 😁

The interesting conversations I have are what keeps me going! That and the mundane art contest of course! 😂

THX SO MUCH for putting out this positive review!
It helps so much making people aware of the fact that we exist ;-)
And as I said: BIG news ahead.

@pollux.one from team @steembay

Looking forward to your news and I plan to continue to use SteemBay!

Wow so cool I never knew we had this.
. SteamBay. I definitely have to spread the word.
Thanks for the update @kusknee! 👊🏾

Hey man, get busy selling!

What a cool and great option. I wonder if I should try a print of some of my art, would that be the sort of thing that would be considered good for this type of auction?

I'm excited about this.

Why not? Anything and everything. Even if it doesn't work for you the first time it will help the ecosystem to grow. Just set your opening price at something that you'd be happy with and you've got nothing to lose.

Have fun and give it a shot!

I bought a necklace on Steembay that @hethur240 had made. it was a good experience!

Great! Win, win, win!

Thanks for being proactive on this campaign, I just got to know about steembay, this means we can trade amongst ourselves and still earn from our sales advertorial, a very good and intelligent concept. It is similar to jumia and konga and online selling and buying platform .I aspect Nigerian entrepreneurs o. Steemit to take advantage of this innovative idea.

Let's use it as much as possible and we all benefit!

This is cool!

Steemit/steem has so much development potential, and there are so many people developing on the platform -- an exciting time for blockchain technology, FINALLY!

@shayne

It really is!

I'd forgotten about @steembay. Need to check it out as I'm interested in spending some of what I make here. Thanks for the reminder

It would be great if you could support it by giving it a try. It needs to grow a lot and hopefully it will soon have more features.

great post about a fantastic App - I have to dig to my #StarWars thing i actually wanted to sell too :-).

Wow, you might get a bud from the Dog Household!

starwars, than it gets interesting! just not have the sbd's :-)

Fine work old-dog! You are doing well in promoting something so valuable to Steemit. I am racking my brains thinking of something to sell!

Sell one of your original Boomer style pieces of art!

What about Boomer pre warn socks?

You get the idea! The Boom brand is BIG!

You might be on to something with the socks ;OD

Great information and congratulations on the Win-Win-Win situation you have been part of, it always feels so good to be part of such trades.

Thanks a lot for bringing awareness to our community with all these initiatives. Namaste :)

Do you have something to sell? Perhaps your encouraging words? No, you give those for free.

That was an totally fun Auction and the first time i experienced the Bid war instead of Flag war on Steemit 😅😅

Me and @the-beard really enjoyed this whole auction and you are also really kind that you offered both of us an Opportunity to buy these cards on the base of our previous Bids😇🙏

Now iam just waiting to get these cards in my hands 🤓

Thanks again Friend @kus-knee

It was a lot of fun!
I’ve got to figure out what I could sell on Steembay but it’s for sure a very interesting tool.
Especially for selling services.

I’ll have to think about this one. Very interesting!

it is great to be able to sell article by steembay soon I will use it, I could buy article with local currency and sell by steemdollar

This is the first time I've heard about this "steembay" existing and that someone made SBD/money from it. I think it's very interesting. Sounds like Ebay so I guess it works like an online market too right?

Hmmm that's interesting. I wonder what I will post there...

I should use steembay too, thanks for creating awareness!

Great experience.... and sophisticated thought @kus-knee

very good job.educational post.increase our knowledge about steembay.

That is indeed a good news .One deal is good two sounds even better ;)

While in the coming days it sure will improve more !

SteemBay Awesome!!

I WILL RESTEEM SOON!

Thanks for sharing your experience with SteemBay. I honestly never heard of it or at least never paid it any mind.

Whoa, I had no idea that this was happening! I guess every day is a school day...it had to happen eventually, people here have money so why not use them the way we use money in every day life. It's great that the tokens remain in the ecosystem - Blockchain technology FTW!

Steem blockchain is really providing all sorts of great implementations in one platform wow :D

Congrats for your success! SteemBay is a great tool i think. I'll try to sell my art on SteemBay.

Nice

Thank you for the info!!!! I just made my first portrait for SBD :-D

While I have never used them I have see others have great success in doing so. It is always great to see things like this working out for people.

Hi,

It's the first time I hear about Steembay. Thank you for the information, the tutorial is very useful. Cheers

I started following Steembay a week ago. I love auctions and grew up with them as a kid. i will be buying or selling at some point. Thanks so much for showcasing this @kus-knee

I always try to get my sbd as quick into steem as I can, to power up my steempower, and never have sbd to buy anything, until I will be on 500 SP, And than I might do so, depending what they got on offer.

Good post thanks for sharing an interesting offer

It is so refreshing to encounter someone who really understands what drives the value of a coin. The community that uses the coin internally builds the economy that creates the value by creating a demand for the coin. Eventually someone has a desire to sell some BTC to get some SBD to get what can't be got any other way. Ok I'm gonna stop preaching to the choir. ;-)

Looking forward to more.

I use to watch the deals under the tag of steemBay and I think it's really a great opportunity to sell and also to buy! I like to "surf" oon that tag, it's more comfortable than to go in a shopping center with my hubby :P Sure, it's also a great way to enjoy this community ^_^

Very nice i like it

I’ve been using since I read your first post, but didn’t win yet. I’ll try to ‘sell’ something and see how it goes. It sure is a great project and we need to promote. Like you said... it’s ours! Have a Great Weekend!!!!

You have me genuinely interested. Have something I've been wanting to sell. Just might give it a shot.

Wow thats pretty cool idea, wonderful consept of SteemBay first time i hear about it, it looks interesting 😊
