Karma-AV SVS 4000 subs in UK - Bristol Show 2018

Karma-AV is bringing the SVS 4000 Series subwoofers to UK AV enthusiasts.

The latest in a long line of world-class SVS bass engines, the SB-4000 sealed, PB-4000 ported and PC-4000 cylinder designs sit between the 13-Ultra and 16-Ultra models in the range.

These offer 200W more RMS power and 600W more dynamic power than the 13s. Additionally, they are equipped with the proven DSP and advanced power management of the 16s. All of this falls under the command of an IR remote control and smartphone app.

Karma-AV SVS 4000 series

4000 Series’ Sledge STA-1200D amplifiers, which are rated conservatively at 1,200 watts RMS / 4,000+ watts peak, use an efficient high-current Class D design. This is combined with a fully discrete MOSFET output stage to generate immense low frequency output and precise driver control.

The 4000 Series’ 13.5-inch drivers utilise massive dual-ferrite magnet motor assemblies in conjunction with edge-wound aluminium voice coils. This is partnered with lightweight, rigid composite cones.

Proprietary injection-moulded gaskets and long-throw parabolic surrounds allow extreme excursion and SPLs (sound pressure levels) over a long operating life.

DSP (digital signal processing)

Sophisticated 50MHz High Resolution Analog Devices DSP preserves accuracy and sound quality in any environment.

Room Gain control measures the space around the subwoofer and tailors the roll-off slope to optimise room extension while maintaining frequency response accuracy for deep bass without boom.

Port Tuning (on the ported models) offers a choice of three tuning modes: standard, extended and sealed, for finer in-room response calibration according to taste. Additionally, Advanced Limiting allows the amplifier to operate to the limit of its rated power in order to maximise system potential in larger spaces.

Active Power Factor Correction (PFC) serves as a line conditioner, surge suppressor and voltage regulator to accommodate wide voltage fluctuations in the household supply and eliminate the potential for ground loop noise in order to enhance audio transparency.

SVS 4000 series app

The 4000 series’ smartphone app for iOS and Android controls all DSP functions including: volume, low pass filter, phase, polarity, room gain, port tuning, three custom presets and system settings.

The integrated 3-band parametric EQ allows for precise frequency and Q factor adjustments down to the single Hz level with four different slopes.

Finally, two-way feedback shows updates in real time on both the app and subwoofer interface. The App connects over Bluetooth, even when the subwoofer is out of sight.
