Aurora is like the coolest natural light show ever. Imagine the night sky suddenly lit up with colors, like a special effect in a sci-fi movie, but this is a real thing. Aurora usually appears in the polar regions, so it's often called Aurora Borealis in the north and Aurora Australis in the south. The colors can be green, purple, red, or blue, depending on the type of particles in the atmosphere that are hit by the solar wind. This phenomenon occurs because the sun is super active in throwing electrically charged particles into space. When these particles reach the earth's atmosphere and meet the magnetic field, they interact with the gases in the air, then the aurora light appears. That's why the aurora often looks like a scarf of light that moves slowly in the sky, sometimes rolling, fluttering. If you're lucky, you can see aurora that is super bright and changes shape quickly.

Although the aurora is often associated with the polar regions, it does not mean that it cannot be seen from other places. Sometimes, when solar activity is very high, the aurora can appear in areas further from the poles, even in countries that usually do not get it. There are also several legends that have developed in communities around the poles about the aurora. For example, in Nordic culture, the aurora is believed to be a reflection of light from the shields of fallen Viking warriors. Now, many people deliberately go far just to see the aurora in person. Countries like Norway, Iceland, Canada, and Finland are favorite destinations for those who want to experience this. Just imagine, standing under the cold night sky, then suddenly there is a green-purple light rolling overhead. The sensation will be unforgettable.
