Traveling to and from Australia

The stories are endless, an I allowed this, will I get arrested for that. Do not worry, there are many ways to tell when something is NOT allowed in Australia.
First, where is your port of entry? This is a good indication of how likely they are to actually make sure you tell the truth.
Second, do you have a specific reason to bring restricted things into Australia? This is supposed to be NO and you should likely take them off your list now.

What is allowed:

  1. Alcohol - a full 2.25 liters, that can be one bottle or 20 bottles. Doesn't matter, just do not exceed the limit.
  2. Cigarettes - only 50 smokes / 50g tobacco is allowed. they say 2 cartons, but for me 2 cartons means 20 packets, so keep that 50 single smokes in your head and no one will be taxed to hell and back.
  3. Wooden items and plant materials - this one is a very fine line, are these wooden items finished products (varnished) or not, they are not allowed in your checked-in luggage. As for plant materials, seeds, etc, NOTHING is allowed.
  4. Food - NO OPEN FOODS, nothing with seeds, nothing with nuts, no teas and definitely NO MEAT. You are allowed to bring food that is still in its original sealed packaging, but please follow the mentioned guideline mentioned, for example - bring those sweets for the little ones.
  5. Pets/animals - yes, people have actually tried to bring both live and dead animals in... Please do not even attempt that if you do not want to go through the whole quarantine process.

The country is beautiful, and they try their hardest to keep that up. The roads and public transport is maintained and the parks are clean - please respect that.

Now, enjoy your holiday, be honest, spend that money on those clothes.

All the very best.

As an Australian, I congratulate you on making this known.
I agree with the above, but most of all, I have to add that common sense in restricting disease, pests, weapons, etc. will allow you to have a safe trip here.
