Gaurav Chopra | Entrepreneur

G for Gaurav and G for Gratitude. Gaurav Chopra believes in taking small steps towards fulfilling a big vision. At a tender age, he migrated to Australia and decided to shoulder the weight of his brothers Eshwar & Rajan, managing two businesses—education and real estate.

From a business background and involved in the family business from childhood, Gaurav migrated to Australia in 2005 to pursue a hospitality course. He then worked in call centres to develop communication skills and blend into the Australian way of life.

“It was a tough decision to leave the successful family run business and move to a new country and start all over again. I was confident that moving to Australia which is the land of opportunities, I would shine,” he says.

When he became a permanent resident Gaurav opened a restaurant, but soon realised he wanted to move into the education sector and open a college. He did exactly what he set out to do, and within a year was at the helm of a successful educational institution, as Director of Sacred Heart International College.

“I was simultaneously growing the property portfolio, so it was a challenging few years. My wife too was working in child care,” says the father of two.

The way I see it

Business mantra… Goals must be specific. I aim for a specific target. I believe that if I don’t have a specific target, then I won’t know when I’ve achieved it. Dreaming is nice, but you have to do something about the dream
