This is probably going to sound exceptionally odd coming from someone looking to start some form of advocacy group with aspirations of doing things for the deaf and hard of hearing communities with high hopes, but let's face it, I've seen and still see a lot of people, especially on Steemit due to the revenue properties of the platform, where it seems people expect some form of audience.
It's basically people completely failing at doing network marketing. Let's say you have some sort of charitable cause you want to contribute to, like what I have stated in my previous post that I intend to do with my project here with the CryptoDeaf WordPress blog. It can be anything, wanting to raise funds for the homeless, green energy, planet cleanup, feeding the hungry, whatever the cause or project is in question. Do you A). Raise awareness and gain an audience through hard work writing, dedicating time out of your day to make content people hopefully want to read, or B). Find some random post or posts and just comment on it without reading the article asking for upvotes and stuff?
If you answered B). You're an entitled little prick that doesn't know how network marketing works and you don't seem to know what spam is.
Let me level with you. I've chewed peoples asses out on Minds.com for blatant self promotion in my threads, I then flag/report them and block them. Do you really think people enjoy seeing your spam? Truth is we don't. Are you personally paying me for my attention? If you want to have your spam on my blog posts, status updates, etc, you're going to have to pay me for the privilege, and I'm not talking about just giving me an upvote and then doing it, no no, not by a long shot.
If you want to advertise on my posts, I do expect a minimum of $100 USD.
But your posts aren't highly trafficked though, why so much?Don't like my price, then go somewhere else, someone may be willing to go much cheaper than I am, but for me, if I'm going to advertise your bullshit, you're going to pay me to host your adverts. I'm here to spread awareness for a cause and to make money too on Steemit, just like the majority of other people here to some degree.
Do you really think your "charitable cause" of solar energy is more important to me than the deaf and hard of hearing? If you think so you're delusional.
You're not owed an audience because of some cause you're supporting, I'm not even owed that, you have to earn your audience and work hard at it. So you've made several posts and you've not really managed to scrap up more than $0.10 per post and you're seeing people post a simple meme or one liner quip and getting hundreds of dollars for it. Yeah, so? I put a lot of time, effort and thought into my own posts as well and I rarely get anything to a high degree either. However I still read other people's content and I still make comments on their posts, and my comments are informed by their post that I read and I interact with them back and forth when they reply to me. I even interact with people that reply on my own articles.
It's excessively unrealistic to pop into a community and expect the golden carpet rolled out for you with fanfare and paparazzi just for the sake of "Oh I'm doing this charitable thing". You know how many charities are already on steemit? You know how many charity startups are on here? Do you realize how many people are already talking about green energy, deafness, chronic dry mouth, cerebral palsy, autism, etc on Steemit? Do you not realize that you're not the first person?
You don't deserve everyone's attention and a lot of money for merely existing and taking up space. Steemit is still a form of social media and social media is still largely an attention based economy regardless of the platform. You don't have to like it, but it's the reality. If all you're really after doing is destroying yourself, your reputation and any voting power you may potentially get, continue on spamming and making an ass of yourself, you're not really helping yourself nor anyone else. You're just making everyone dislike or hate you. And as you're well aware, you can't open a store and expect to make money if the first thing you do is open your store in San Francisco and declare your love for Hitler at the grand opening. With spamming, you might as well do that, because you get just about as much love.
Nobody likes spammers, and nobody likes those that insist that they're entitled to our attention. Earn it, or leave, it's that simple.
