PULLING A PLANE BY MYSELF FOR CHARITY!!!

in autism •  7 years ago  (edited)

Just a little back story about me, years back I was going through something's, as we all do, and I decided I needed to do something about it. I started to work out and get my mind off it, and decided I need to do some charity work. My friend said there is an event where 20 people pull a plane a couple of feet and get sponsored and raise money for this charity. So we didn't have enough people to join up with is. So I posted up, whomever were to double the money on my sponsorship, that I would pull this plane by myself the few feet. They said it was impossible to do that by yourself, but people were intrigued and people started to sponsor me, and by then I had reached double sponsorship. Now I couldn't let anybody down so I had to crack my knuckles and grip the rope. With a huge pull there was no budge of the plane, and the sink of failure started to sink in demoralize me. With my strength sapping from the embarrassment, oh did I mention these was televised. So it being televised made it worse, and began to give it up. Looking up with the face of defeat. I hear a sole voice of a small boy. I was told later that he rarely speaks in front of anyone, let alone hundreds of strangers. I heard his voice he said "you can do it!" His family and friends looking at him as though they hadn't heard a word from this boy ever. I suddenly feel a jolt of confidence and strength. I grab the rope and give it a yank, I feel the plane budging, so that gives me even more confidence, and I pull so hard I thought the skin on my hand was going to rip off, but I keep pulling. Step then step again again, I can't believe that it's actually moving but it is, so I have even more strength, adrenaline starts to pump through my veins, the crowd is starting to grow in a low roar, step step step as I get closer to that finish line, the crowd got so loud I couldn't hear myself think. Then they got even louder I turn to look at them and see them going absolutely nuts. I turned to see where I was at, and I had crossed the finish line, and didn't notice, because my eyes were closed the whole time. I pulled this plane all the way hands with rope burn, balls of my feet felt like they ripped off, shoulder felt like it was tied in knots. I walked up to that boy and said "thanks". The boy said " I knew you could do it." His parents look at him in disbelief, I ask "why do you look at him like that if you don't mind me asking?" The parents look at me and say "He hasn't said anything in years, he is autistic and he doesn't much like strangers, we thought it would be good to bring him out." Now I was shocked, that makes sense now. I thanked the boy and his parents again. The charity I pulled for was to raise money for the special Olympics, so they could have one this year. (That goal was met) Thanks for readingFB_IMG_1524306227334.jpgFB_IMG_1524306267457.jpg
