Hy there people, last week I have been tagged by @lavintherapist with this challenge. I have been thinking the whole week how and what I should write about autism. if you want to know what autism is, just go and read the following post of @laviniatherapist, and other more she has written on the matter. https://steemit.com/steemengine/@laviniatherapist/2nd-april-world-autism-awareness-day-blue-day-challenge
Let's start then!
I didn't know to much about autism until about 4 years ago, and I don`t think that I know much more today :P.
But let me tell you the whole story!
How autism affects the life of those who are touched by it?
Yeah, that's the real question! I can give you a glimpse in that world. Are you ready to go down the rabbit hole?
First of all, a bit of autism in your life makes you a better person, less judgemental and more open to different ways of doing things.
If you are just really high functional autistic, or you have what used to be called the scientist sindrom. Then you will experience a sense of isolation (people don't get you, and you do't get the people) and if you are lucky enough you are going to develop an autopilot like personality for the outside world. That allows you to spend most of the time in your inner universe. This autopilot will take care of normal people expectations enough to be characterized only as a slightly odd and eccentric person.
How come I know that? I am one of them 😉! Never been officially diagnosticated though.
But, the main question will be, how those parents lives are affected.
It starts with negation.
-No, my child is alright! Can't you hear me?!
It has been my wife's mantra for weeks at that time.
Even though our five years old little boy wasn't talking yet. Even though all the results of my personal research on the internet were telling me over and over again the same thing. Oh boy, I tried to lie myself countless times! But the truth it was right before my eyes.
9th of April 2018, exactly four years from the day I had the courage to tell her what I knew for a while now.
Yeah, it might be the time to share with the world some thoughts on this.
You know, is not all bad 😃! Of course there are some ugly moments and I am going to tell you about them. But there are wonderful moments as well 😊! Prepare yourself for this journey.
First of all, my son never had a seizure. We stopped vaccination at six months of his age, and that might be the reason. He never been really sick or ill. Is my little angel full with love for everyone and everything. Just doesn't really care about talking and only recently learned a bit what fear is. I think the lack of fear is the most difficult part we had to deal with, but apart from that is mostly just a kid like any other.
The hard part does come from the outside. Let me tell you what is really hard to overcome!
- Is hard to understand that people can't help themselves, but to react the way they do!
- Is hard not to compare your child with others!
- Is hard to choose between taking the risk to have another child with the same condition or decide not to have any at all!
- Is hard not to lose your patience, your temper, your hope!
However, all this is nothing you can't overcome.
Because in this way your eyes are opening and you can see things which until recently didn't matter to you. I can say now that my son is a heavenly gift I have been granted in order to live a complete life. Why? Because I am blessed with a child who teach me every day what a beautiful gift life is!
That being said, I am looking forward to the day when he will ask me
-Daddy, why is the sky blue? and other questions like that one.
Anyway we don't waste time anymore, but growing together
Until next time...
It takes courage to be so open like you were. I believe that every day is a challenge for your family, but as you said, with patience and love and accepting your child as a divine gift you will overcome and you will be a happy family. Thank you 😊 for sharing and let us know about your family.!

Thank you for your kind words 😃. One thing only, we are already a happy family 😁! Of course it wasn't always like this, but we all have ups an downs in our lives, don't we 😉? Also, challenges make us stronger. I am nothing, but grateful for my life as it is 😃.

I did not mean to say you would not be happy now, I apologize for that. This English gives me a headache. ;) :) I am glad for you that you are a happy family and I think you will do very well in the future. I have a friend whose boy has autistic problems. He is 14 or 15 years now and is doing great. They have worked hard with the boy but the results are now seen. They are a beautiful family, like your's, and of course they are happy!!!

No need to apologize, you said nothing wrong 👌😃. Thing is, we kind of forget that any child should be cared for if we really want him be the best he could. That's why I believe we are lucky for being reminded all the time 😃.
