Vinfast: The sexiest car brand you probably have never heard of

I know that I had never heard of it before I moved to Vietnam but every now and then I would be sitting somewhere and a car would drive by that would turn my head and make me say "WTF was that?"

We all know that look of a certain car that turns your head with the wonderful body design, but these cars are not copies of other brands, they are just a Vietnam-specific car company and I've never seen them anywhere else in the world.

This is just one that is down the street from my condo and it is parked there every day. I always stop to have a look at it when I walk by even though I have seen it dozens of times

They also make economy cars and SUV's and they all have this really slick design that is really unique. They must be quite expensive because even though they are manufactured here in Vietnam, we don't see them on the streets very often. The VinGroup is a massive company in Vietnam that owns just about everything so why not have a brand of cars too?

I don't really know how to describe these cars. The sedans look like a Mercedes and a Bentley had a baby car and raised it to be really fast. If you haven't ever seen one that is probably because the company didn't come into existence until 2017 and they have experienced trouble expanding into global markets because of the last 2 years of Covid.

I've heard rumors that they are associated with BMW in some capacity for their engine design, but I can't find any information about this being the case online. I think that these are not just pretty cars with garbage engines though because from what I can tell they are really focusing not on just having really flash exteriors but also having really high quality everything else. Just having a great body on a car is not really a good thing. I once knew a guy that had a beautiful GTO kit car but the engine was a V8 Toyota engine so while it looked great, once he turned it on it was evident that this was not the genuine article.

I suppose we will have to wait a while to find out if these cars can stand the test of time since they have only been around for 5 years, but if the engines are anywhere near as impressive as the exterior is, I expect that these cars could become a global phenomenon.

I know I want one.
