ব্যাটারি সিডিআই সিস্টেম ক্যাপাসিটরকে চার্জ করার জন্য ৩৫০ ভোল্ট ডিসি কারেন্ট এর প্রয়োজন হয় এবং সিবি পয়েন্ট এর পরিবর্তে থাইরিস্টর ব্যাবহার করা হয়। থাইরিস্টর মূলত পাওয়ার কন্ট্রোল সুইচ এসি এমপ্লিফিকেশন ফেজ কন্ট্রোল করে, অর্থাৎ সিবি পয়েন্ট এর মতো দরজা হিসেবে কাজ করে।
মোটরযানে সাধারণত ৬-১২ ভোল্টের ব্যাটারি ব্যবহৃত হয়।তাই ৬/১২ ভোল্ট ডিসিকে অ্যামপ্লিফায়ার দ্বারা ৩৫০ ভোল্ট এসি এবং রেক্টিফায়ার দিয়ে ৩৫০ ভোল্ট ডিসিতে পরিণত করা হয়। এ কাজটি মূলত ট্রানজিস্টর, ইনভার্টার সম্পাদন করে থাকে। ইনভার্টার সার্কিট এক বা একাধিক ট্রানজিস্টর, ট্রান্সফরমার, রেজিস্টর ও ক্যাপাসিটর নিয়ে গঠিত।
ইগনিশন সুইচ (S1) অন করলে ব্যাটারির লো-ভোল্টেজ কারেন্ট ইনভাটার ও রেক্টিফায়ার এর মাধ্যমে সমসাধিত হয়ে ডিসিতে পরিণত হয় এবং ক্যাপাসিটর চার্জ হতে থাকে। এ সময় থাইরিস্টর অফ থাকে।
ইলেক্ট্রনিক প্রক্রিয়ায় থাইরিস্টর অন হলে ক্যাপাসিটর ডিসচার্জ হয়ে যায়। উল্লেখ্য, ক্যাপাসিটর ডিসচার্জ হওয়ার সাথে সাথে ইগনিশন কয়েলের সেকেন্ডারি ওয়াইন্ডিং-এ হাই ভোল্টেজ উৎপন্ন হয় এবং ডিসট্রিবিউটরের মাধ্যমে স্পার্ক প্লাগে যায় এবং স্পার্কিং ঘটায়। ফলে কম্বাশন চেম্বারে সংকুচিত বাতাস ও জ্বালানির মিশ্রণে আগুন ধরে যায়।
