#CarNerd presents the 2018 Toyota Camry is a Summer Block Buster

The long wait is almost over and any day now dealers should be getting their hands on the first allocation of the all new 2018 Toyota #Camry. Before that happens let us dive in and take a look at what Toyota has in store for this Summer Block Buster!

Lets start with the trim levels:

L, LE, SE, XLE, XSE - 4cyl

XLE, XSE - V6

LE, SE, XLE - Hybrid 4 cyl

Now some very important information MPG's because we all know the more gas stations you pass the better!

L will get 29 city / 41 highway / 34 combined

LE, SE, XLE, XSE will get 28 city / 39 highway / 32 combined

XSE, XLE V6 will get 22 city / 33 highway / 26 combined

Hybrids will get an outstanding 51 city / 53 highway / 52 combined

Of course the Camry has received one heck of a face lift this year and really does look like something you would find on a race track and not your drive way. Really that has been Toyota's goal with the redesign.

Lets start with Toyota's new TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform. This is modular unibody automobile platform Toyota is using for Toyota and Lexus, this first came to be with the fourth generation Toyota Prius. An idea that seems so simple you can not set there and wonder why not do this sooner? It will allow for more vehicles to roll off the same line and keep cost down for the consumer!

So whats under the hood you ask? Well, in the 4cyl you still get the 2.5L engine. Hold up, its not the same bland 2.5 that graced the roads in the 2017 Camry. This 2.5 has the all new Toyota Dynamic Force power train family that gives you direct and port injection and high compression ratio and a 40% thermal efficiency. It also features the new VVT-IE which is an electronically controlled version of the VVT-I already found in the Camry. All this adds up to monster savings for you, as the 2018 Camry is a economic and performance beast!

Not only did the engine get some spiffy new shine, but we get an 8 speed transmission in the non Hybrid models. This will minimize the power loss from the torque converter. With a new gear box that comes with a direct lock up feature from 2nd to 8th gear which will assist in very quick acceleration and power the Camry more efficiently.

With the control arm suspension you will get a more responsive steering and handling without sacrificing the comfort of your ride, allowing for a smooth quiet ride you have come to love and enjoy from Camry. When you add this to the fact that the Camry has taken a longer, lower and wider stance you will be amazed at how much you will enjoy driving. The Camry is .4 inches longer, wider by 1.3 inches, and lower by 1.2 inches. You will find the roof to be 1.0 inches lower and the hood to be 1.5 inches lower adding more of that race track feel to your driveway.

The Hybrid will come with an updated CVT and lithium Ion battery pack on the SE and XLE, while the LE will come with the nickle-metal hydride. Having the Lithium ion will allow you to have more trunk space in the Camry as it will place the battery under the rea seat again allowing for more cargo room and lowering the center of gravity which improves its driving dynamics and the stability.

Packages for the new Camry seem to be much simpler this year:

LE you can get a Convinience pack that will add smart key, home link and an auto dimming mirror and an Audio package that includes Entune 3.0 aduio plus with connected navigation, Qi wireless charging.

SE you can get a Driver assist package that adds birds eye view and heads up display. You can also get a Audio upgrade package to get Audio plus just like the LE version as well as the Convineince package which gives you smart key, home link and an auto dimming mirror.

XLE and XSE you can get a panaramic moon roof, the Drivers assist package that includes Heads Up display and Birds eye view. Audio package with JBL with Clari-Fi, app suite and connected navigation and Qi wireless charging.

The XLE and XSE V6 get a Driver assistance package that gives you the birds eye display and a navigation pack that gives you the App suite, JBL with Clari Fi and Dynamic Navigation which has the ability to be updated over the air allowing for you to use the destination assist connect.

The Hybrids have an packages available just as their non hybrid counterparts with the exception that there is no panoramic Sunroof available.

While the exterior has some sexy and sleek lines that are sure to turn every head in town as you drive through, the true marveling of the new Camry is clearly in its cabin and with its safety features. So lets start with Entune 3.0 that will connect you to the outside world in ways you could not imagine! The new Entune 3.0 comes available in 3 head units now, the Entune Audio which comes standard and gives you the app suite that includes the Scout GPS Link connected navigation, Pandora and the other classic Entune App suite, a pinch/zoom scroll/swipe and much more like the Siri eyes free, and Google voice controls, a home screen you can customize, weather and traffic all on a 7.0 touchscreen.

You can upgrade to the Audio Plus and get cool features such as an 8.0 inch display, cd player, cache radio, safety connect, service connect, remote connect, wifi connect and available JBL with Clari-Fi.

However don't stop there because you can step up to the Premium Aduio and add things like dynamic voice recognition, integrated dynamic navigation, dynamic point of interest, HD radio and destination assist connect. Heads up display will have you driving like you are Goose or Maverick from Top Gun! This allows you to turn your Camry seat into the cockpit of your very own! The Heads Up display will give you a 10 inch display that pops up in front of you allowing your eyes to stay focuses on the road. This will display information such as your speed and navigation directions right in front of you! Pretty sweet if you ask me!

Safety is another big improvement to the 2018 Camry and this year Toyota Safety Sense comes to the #1 selling car in America! Lets start by looking at the Blind Spot Monitoring, this will be available as a stand alone option on all Camry levels which is something I highly encourage you getting on your new Camry!

This will add such great features like the Pre-collision system with Pedestrian detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering assist, Automatic High Beams and Radar Cruise Control.

Toyota Star Safety system which includes all the great features like, anti lock brakes, vehicle stability control, traction control, brake assist, electronic brake force distribution and smart stop tech. These items have been standard on most Toyota's for a few years, they help make you and whom ever is driving your car a better driver. Watch this video to learn more.
