Today in History - July 12, 1933

84 years ago on July 12 the first three-wheeled, multi-directional Dymaxion car–designed by the architect, engineer and philosopher Buckminster Fuller was manufactured in the US (Bridgeport, Connecticut)

Fuller life motto has been to find out what an individual can contribute to changing the world and benefiting all humans. He came up with his personal brand "Dymaxion" which was a combination of the words “dynamic,” “maximum” and “ion". Some of his groundbreaking creations was the Dymaxion house, which was made of lightweight aluminum. This house could be shipped by air and assembled on site - a true pioneer work.

The first Dymaxion car of 1927 was part aircraft, part automobile with inflated wings. After some modifications he came up with a model that included a rear third wheel that lifted off the ground as well as a tail fin which went to production in 1933. On July 12, 1933 the first model rolled out of the factory. The car consisted of a steel chassis, a body made of ash wood which was covered with an aluminum skin. This speed car was designed to achieve 120 miles per hour.

Very intresting i hear for the first time of this kind of car

It was also new to me - interesting concept but it was not going to mass production

It looks like a U.F.O

The Dymaxion house idea is really cool if you could make it a little more modern and maybe throw up some solar or wind power to go with it, that would be awesome for a lot of people. Great read got my vote! Thanks @history-trail
