I know that the calendar says that the first official day of Fall is September 22nd, but it hasn't felt like fall to me until today. When I woke up this morning there was a chill in the air and I could smell that crisp almost sweet scent of the changing leaves.

Now I'm not going to lie I do get a little mournful at this time of year. When I have to say goodbye to my favorite season of all, summer, but it's hard to stay sad for long when all the trees around my house start showing off their beautiful fall colors.

Even though I love the easy long days of summer, when you can throw on a pair of shorts, a tank top, and flip flops and head out the door, there's a wonderful cozy feeling about pulling on your favorite warm hoodie and heading outside.

Where I live in upstate New York, fall is pretty amazing! I am within a half an hours drive to many beautiful hiking trails, some spectacular mountains, and just a stone's throw away from gorgeous Vermont.

So many of the activities that I love doing in the fall are actually inspirations for my fall scented candles that I create. I love going apple picking, and there are many family owned, organic orchards nearby to choose from. The very first bite into that first apple off the tree is so sweet and crisp and fresh! I worked hard at creating a scent for my apple picking candle that can actually make your mouth water when you smell it!

I also love visiting the many pumpkin patches that sprout up all over town, and picking out the perfect pumpkins that we will bring home and turn into Jack-O- Lanterns to decorate our front porch. But by far my favorite fall activity is going to the mountains of Lake George to hike and photograph the beautiful fall leaves. No matter how many years I have watched the leaves change, the spectrum of colors takes my breath away. How can there possibly be so many shades of red, orange, and yellow?

So whatever your favorite fall activity is, grab your favorite hoodie and get outside and enjoy it while you can, because we all know what comes next!!!
