Avatar 2 is American science fiction film directed, produced, and co-written by James Cameron. It is the sequel to Avatar (2009) and the second installment in the Avatar franchise. The film stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Giovanni Ribisi, Joel David Moore, Dileep Rao, and Sigourney Weaver.
The story of Avatar 2 takes place several years after the events of the first film. Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) have settled into a peaceful life on Pandora with their children. However, their peace is disrupted when a new threat emerges from the depths of Pandora's oceans. This new threat is a race of aquatic creatures known as the Na'vi-oceanic people.
The Na'vi-oceanic people are led by a powerful leader named Eywa (Stephen Lang). Eywa has a plan to unite all of Pandora's inhabitants and create a new world order. To do this, he needs Jake and Neytiri's help. Jake and Neytiri must travel to the depths of Pandora's oceans to find a way to stop Eywa's plans and save their home.
Avatar 2 will feature groundbreaking visual effects and motion capture technology. Cameron has stated that he wants to make Avatar 2 even more visually stunning than its predecessor. He has also stated that he wants to explore more of Pandora's oceans in this sequel.
The film will also feature an expanded cast of characters. New characters include Metkayina (Giovanni Ribisi), a Na'vi-oceanic leader; Tuktirey (Joel David Moore), a Na'vi-oceanic warrior; and Dr. Grace Augustine (Sigourney Weaver), a human scientist who helps Jake and Neytiri in their quest.
