Week 13 of my Infinity War Preparation – 2018 MCU Re-Watch
Wow! This might be peak MCU. It manages to be the perfect blend of taking the subject matter seriously, but also just being a joy seeing filmmakers making the most of this amazing sandbox that Marvel Studios has created.
It's obviously a sequel to Winter Soldier but it also has major connections to Age of Ultron. On top of that, pretty much every major character/event so far is featured or referenced.
Ultimately this film will lead into Infinity War yet it also definitely sets up two spin-off sequels (Black Panther set one week later, Spider-Man: Homecoming set two months later) and perhaps a third (Ant-Man and The Wasp). So this is basically the key MCU film so far - and it is totally fit for the role.
I can only hope Infinity War is this times 10.
To Infinity: Technically nothing, although Vision and Wanda talk about their Stone-based powers.
Mid/Post-Credit Scene(s): After introducing two big characters in the main film, the bonus scenes help set up the solo films for Black Panther and Spider-Man.
Next Up: Ideally it would be Black Panther and then (probably) Ant-Man and The Wasp but since the former isn't on home media yet and the latter hasn't been released, next up is Spider-Man: Homecoming.
