I think you nailed it. This was a cultural event and will be the biggest movie of all time, at least in current box office dollars.
Spoiler warnings upcoming: Not only does it wrap up 20+ movies worth of stories, it does so by finding a clever way to revisit key points throughout the MCU. Coming back to these moments, with the added experience and knowledge these characters now possess, made them both familiar and new -- and moments like Cap's elevator ride were absolutely genius! They subverted our expectations in the best possible way.
While its going to get torn apart for its plot holes and inconsistencies, I can look beyond those to enjoy the path they decided to take with this movie. Aside from the slightly slow first act, it was a perfect conclusion to the MCU.
I highly doubt anything they can do moving forward can come close to replicating what they've done here -- at least before they manage to finally fold the XMen/FF back into the MCU.
