Nightmares increase the risk of mental illness, depression

Nightmares are not just bad dreams, they also cause a lot of negative impact on human health. Among people with high-frequency nightmares, many are victims of depression or anxiety. These people are especially sensitive to negative images of nightmares, which are more likely to lead to more serious psychological disorders. A recent study in Germany found that people who regularly dreamed of nightmares had a fivefold prevalence of mental illnesses and depression. German neurological experts conducted a study with more than 9,000 adults on related topics, including the frequency of dreaming of nightmares, resulting in 5.1% of participants. Researchers say they often have nightmares, on average once a week. In particular, people with the neurological disease, unemployment, and low income often have more nightmares. They often suffer from insomnia, fatigue, headaches, and lack of alertness, so they are prone to depression.

Do not stress: Nightmares are usually just a symptom of stress in the day. Therefore, if you are stressed, this can put pressure on your thoughts while sleeping. Treat nightmares as a signal to find out the true culprit causes stress in everyday life. If you can overcome this condition, you will be able to reduce the possibility of nightmares. If you can not do this, go to a therapist for advice, or a vacation can be a good solution.

Disease Prevention: Fever is also one of the causes of nightmares and fatigue of the body will be reflected in your dreams. Nightmares due to a tired body can pass when you are well. Remember that sometimes a nightmare about your body can be a sign that you are sick.

Avoid drinking alcohol, smoking: Many different drugs can cause side effects that make you have nightmares. Check with your doctor when nightmares occur along with or after the time of the medication. Avoid stimulants like alcohol and cigarettes, as it is also a nightmarish bridge to meet you.

Reasonable rest: Do not lie in bed when you are awake or spend the whole day watching scary movies, or busy, or stressed out. If you do that, you will be overwhelmed with thoughts, then falling asleep and nightmares will surround you. Instead, you should spend about 1 hour before bed to relax, eliminating stress. Reading is a very effective way, especially if it is a joke.

Diet: Your diet can affect your dream, just like medicine. Remember that food interacts with the body in many different ways. Make sure you have a reasonable diet, avoid caffeinated beverages because it will keep your head constantly stimulated, working constantly, avoiding foods that bring too much energy and difficult to digest foods. These will annoy you and you will not be able to have beautiful dreams.

Go to the toilet before going to bed: It does not seem like this is important, but do not despise it. One common form of suppression in the body is the need to go to the toilet and this need will come into your dream in many forms. (In young children, this can lead to bedwetting.

In general, we have many natural and specialized remedies to help you overcome or limit the frequency of nightmares at bedtime. In addition to regular sleep, sports training is also a healthy habit that helps you sleep better, restrain anxiety and depression as well as the frequency of nightmares. In addition, yoga and meditation are also effective activities to help you have more strength and sleep.

Thank you for this useful post :) I used to got a lot of sleep paralysis and nightmare, but then I found out that I got stressful from my love, work and family, so I broke up my gf, quitted my job, and stay honest with my family, now everything go back to normal :) Still single but at least I have my family and a better job, less stressful, currently I'm enjoy my life :) even sometime bad things happen but I always keep positive mind.

Its very true. In Nigeria, we consider nightmares as visions from God but that is totally false. Science has proven and yet many of us fail to believe so.
I'm sometimes depressed because of some fact but the true thing is that they all do pop up in my dream.
